Phuoc An Port boasts an advantageous location on the Thi Vai River. It is regarded as the Vietnamese port with the best channel currently and is situated in the key economic region of the South, an area that accounts for 70% of container cargo and 50% of general cargo cleared at Vietnamese seaports.

With a total investment of nearly VND 20,000 billion, this is the largest seaport in Dong Nai Province, spanning an area of 8 sq. km (equivalent to the size of District 1 in Ho Chi Minh City). It is divided into port sub-areas and logistics sub-areas.

The port sub-area covers 1.8 sq. km, with a total berth length of 3 km. It comprises 6 container berths and 4 general berths capable of accommodating vessels of approximately 60,000 tons, with an annual capacity of 6.5 million tons.

In addition to the 1.8 sq. km port area, the port also features a 5.5 sq. km logistics services and industrial park, which is planned to include warehouses, barge berths, transshipment stations, and other facilities to support transportation, logistics, and other activities for the Phuoc An Port area, connecting to the industrial parks in Nhon Trach District, Dong Nai Province, and the key economic region of the South.

Currently, Phuoc An Port has completed and put into operation only 2 berths as of September 2024, with the remaining berths expected to be completed by 2026.

The road leading to Phuoc An Port is also taking shape. This 6-km road has a road width of 61 m, including a 30-m wide road surface, a 3-m wide median strip, and 14-m wide sidewalks on each side. It is the only road connecting Phuoc An Port to other areas.

The operation of Phuoc An Port presents a significant opportunity for the development of industrial parks in Nhon Trach District, Dong Nai Province, and the key economic region of the South. Many businesses anticipate that Phuoc An Port will become a convenient, safe, and cost-effective hub for storing and transporting goods.

Additionally, it will help alleviate the increasingly severe traffic congestion on roads caused by the transportation of goods between Ho Chi Minh City and the Southeast, South-Central, and Central Highlands regions, especially on National Highways 1 and 51.

Mr. Vo Tan Duc, Chairman of the Dong Nai People’s Committee, stated that Phuoc An Port would be selected as one of the representative projects to be introduced at the conference announcing the master plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision towards 2050.

The project of Dong Nai’s largest seaport promises to be a new “giant” in Vietnam’s maritime industry. It will not only serve as a vital transportation hub but also a key driver of economic growth, contributing to Dong Nai’s emergence as a leading logistics center in the Southern region.
