Apple has recently designated the iPhone XS Max, iPhone 6s Plus, and select Apple Watch Series 2 variants as vintage and obsolete in most regions. This means that repairs and maintenance for these devices will become increasingly difficult.
According to Apple’s definition, a product is considered vintage if it has not been manufactured for more than 5 years but less than 7 years. Despite this, the company continues to offer repair parts and service for vintage products for up to 7 years after they last shipped.
On the other hand, obsolete products are those that were discontinued more than 7 years ago. For these devices, Apple no longer offers hardware service with the exception of MacBook battery replacement.
While the iPhone XS Max and 6s Plus are still available in the market, their vintage status should be carefully considered before purchase. Alternative options include the iPhone 11, iPhone 12, and iPhone 13, which offer great value with prices starting at just 8.7 million VND for a brand new, sealed iPhone.
A survey of authorized Apple resellers (AAR) in Vietnam revealed that the iPhone 11 with 64GB of storage is priced at 8.79 million VND, while the 128GB version is offered at the same price by Di Dong Viet. Meanwhile, CellphoneS, TopZone, and FPT Shop sell the 64GB model for 8.49-8.99 million VND.
The iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 are also competitively priced, ranging from 10.99 million VND to 13.45 million VND at Apple’s AARs in Vietnam. However, the supply of iPhone 12 models is dwindling, with only a few retailers still offering the 64GB and 128GB versions, and the 256GB option no longer available.
“The supply of iPhone 12 has almost run out in the Vietnamese market. At these price points, our system will focus on the iPhone 13 to provide customers with better experiences,” shared a representative from Di Dong Viet.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson from another authorized system commented that for mid-range customers, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 remain excellent choices due to their features and user experience.
With the deep discounts on the iPhone 11, 12, and 13 in Vietnam, now is a great opportunity for consumers to acquire an iPhone at a reasonable price. However, buyers should exercise caution and only purchase from reputable retailers to ensure they receive genuine and high-quality products.
