This special-grade energy project is led by EVNNPT as the investor, with SPMB managing the project, Transmission Corporation 4 operating it, and Baochinhphu.vn reporting on it.

The 500kV transmission line (2 circuits) starts at the 500kV distribution yard pillar of the Nhon Trach 4 Power Plant and ends by connecting to the conductors between pillars 74 and 75 of the existing 500kV Phu My- Nha Be transmission line.

This transmission line is the sole connection enabling the evacuation of power from the Nhon Trach 4 Power Plant (with a capacity of over 800MW) to the National Power System. The operation of these thermal power plants will contribute to energy security and increase local budget revenues. The project’s completion will help ensure power supply in the southern provinces from 2025 onwards.

The Nhon Trach 3 and 4 Power Plants are invested by the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group with a total investment of $1.4 billion. The combined capacity of the two plants is 1,624MW, and they are expected to provide between 9 and 12 billion kWh of electricity per year. These are the first thermal power plants in Vietnam to use liquefied natural gas (LNG) as fuel.

Previously, to ensure experimental power supply and evacuate power from the Nhon Trach 3 and 4 Power Plants, EVNNPT reported to the competent authorities for the implementation of the 220kV connection line from Nhon Trach 3 Power Plant to Nhon Trach 1,2 – Bau Sen, belonging to the 220kV Nhon Trach 3 Power Plant – Long Thanh 500kV transformer station project. On May 15, 2024, the project was energized, ensuring reverse power supply and experimental grid connection for the Nhon Trach 3 Power Plant.
