The Steering Committee for重点交通工程in Bắc Kạn province recently held a meeting to review the preparations for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Chợ Mới – Bắc Kạn Expressway.
The ceremony is expected to take place in the second week of March 2025.
With a total investment of over VND 5,750 billion, the Chợ Mới – Bắc Kạn Expressway project was initiated in 2024 and is anticipated to be completed by 2026.
Up to now, the land clearance work in Bắc Kạn city has been completed for 342 out of 345 affected households, with some having received compensation.
In Chợ Mới district, compensation payments are still facing some obstacles related to land disputes and price determination.
At the meeting, the Steering Committee assessed that the progress of land clearance has not met the requirements, and the resettlement work is lagging.
The Bắc Kạn People’s Committee has requested that relevant units promptly address the obstacles, expedite compensation payments, relocate technical infrastructure, and finalize the resettlement area.
Artistic rendering of the Chợ Mới – Bắc Kạn Expressway.
Earlier, in May 2024, the Ministry of Transport issued a decision approving the investment project for the Chợ Mới – Bắc Kạn route.
According to the decision, the expressway will be 28.8 km long. The starting point of the project will connect to the Thái Nguyên – Chợ Mới expressway (in Chợ Mới district, Bắc Kạn province), and the endpoint will connect to the Bắc Kạn – Cao Bằng expressway (in Bắc Kạn city, Bắc Kạn province).
In terms of scale, the main expressway will have a designed speed of 80 km/h and a cross-section of four lanes. The route is expected to have four interconnected interchanges.
The total investment for the project is over VND 5,750 billion. This includes approximately VND 4,542 billion in construction costs, about VND 574 billion in compensation, support, and resettlement costs, and other expenses. The project is expected to be substantially completed by 2026.
Upon completion, the Chợ Mới – Bắc Kạn Expressway is expected to enhance connectivity and improve transport capacity, meeting the transport demands along the route from Bắc Kạn to key economic regions in Northern Vietnam.
The Final Sprint: Revving Up Ho Chi Minh City’s Expressway Project
The Ho Chi Minh City – Moc Bai Expressway (phase 1) has an estimated compensation, support, and resettlement package totaling VND 5,270 billion for the section passing through Ho Chi Minh City.
The Market Tug-of-War
The VN-Index declined, sustaining a tug-of-war stance as the High Wave Candle pattern emerged. This reflects investors’ cautious sentiment as the index retests the old peak from October 2024 (1,290-1,305 points territory). Unless the index breaks out of this range soon, a resumption of the downward trend is highly likely. Notably, the Stochastic Oscillator is venturing deep into overbought territory, suggesting a sell signal in the upcoming sessions. Should this materialize, the risks of a market correction intensify.
