According to data from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA) and TC Motor, B-segment sedan sales for the first six months of the year totaled 16,087 units, a slight decrease of 0.5% compared to the same period last year.
The Toyota Vios, Hyundai Accent, and Honda City remain the most popular choices in this segment. However, compared to last year, there has been a shift in the rankings among the top-selling models.
Specifically, the Toyota Vios has overtaken the Hyundai Accent to become the best-selling B-segment sedan since the beginning of 2025. The Japanese model sold 5,265 units in the first six months, while the Accent sold 3,793 units during the same period.

Toyota Vios and Hyundai Accent are the two models alternately leading the B-segment sedan market.
Despite the gap widening to nearly 1,500 units, the Hyundai Accent remains in second place in the segment, up one spot compared to the previous month. The third position is held by the Honda City, with 3,585 units sold in the first half of 2025.
Mazda2 also recorded positive sales figures in the first half, selling 2,393 units, a slight increase of 1% over the same period last year, ranking fourth in the segment.
The Mitsubishi Attrage (877 units) and Kia Soluto (164 units) finished in fifth and sixth place, respectively, both selling fewer units compared to the first six months of 2024. As for the Nissan Almera, sales figures were not disclosed.
Overall, the B-segment sedan market in 2025 continues to be a “three-horse race” between the Toyota Vios, Hyundai Accent, and Honda City. Despite efforts to reduce prices, the other models in the segment have not been able to challenge this trio.
Cumulative sales for the first six months show that the Toyota Vios, Hyundai Accent, and Honda City accounted for more than 78% of the total B-segment sedan sales, selling a combined 12,643 units.
In the near future, the B-segment sedan market will welcome a new entrant, the Skoda Slavia. The arrival of this European brand is expected to shake up the B-segment sedan market in Vietnam, which currently consists of Japanese and Korean models.

Notably, the Skoda Slavia will be assembled domestically at the TC Group’s factory in Quang Ninh. This will enable the Czech sedan to be competitively priced to rival the Toyota Vios, Hyundai Accent, and Honda City.
In addition, the facelifted version of the Toyota Vios has been registered for design in Vietnam since the end of 2023 and is awaiting its official launch.

The new Toyota Vios has been registered for design in Vietnam but has not yet been launched.
Along with the introduction of new models, automakers are expected to continue offering promotions and discounts to stimulate demand. This promises to create even more vibrant competition in the B-segment sedan market for the remainder of 2025.
This August, Toyota is offering support for registration fees and gifts for Vios buyers, with maximum discounts ranging from 30 to 35 million VND. Similarly, Hyundai is offering a 50% discount on registration fees for the Accent, up to 28.5 million VND.
Honda City continues to offer a 100% discount on registration fees, equivalent to a reduction of 50-57 million VND. Meanwhile, Mazda2 and Kia Soluto are offering direct price reductions of 10-15 million VND depending on the version.
