On August 12, 2025, in Seoul, Vietnam Airlines, the national carrier of Vietnam, signed four Memorandums of Understanding for multi-field cooperation with South Korean partners within the framework of the Vietnam-Korea Economic Forum. The event was witnessed by General Secretary To Lam and other high-ranking leaders of the two countries.

According to the MoUs, Vietnam Airlines will cooperate with South Korean partners in various fields: researching the establishment of a joint venture for aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO); developing cargo transportation; coordinating bilateral tourism promotion and developing interline tourism products.

Notably, Vietnam Airlines, VAECO (a member of VNA Group), and Korean Air agreed to explore the establishment of a joint venture for aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul based at Long Thanh International Airport. The joint venture will focus on aircraft body maintenance, component repair, cabin conversion, technology transfer, and technical training.

Vietnam Airlines and Korean Air also agreed to enhance cooperation in the field of cargo transportation, including cargo sales cooperation, joint transportation, and cargo services to expand international connectivity.

In terms of bilateral tourism promotion, Vietnam Airlines, the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), and Saigontourist Group signed a significant MoU. The goal is to develop unique, attractive, and diverse tourism products, as well as enhance joint promotional activities to further boost the appeal of Vietnam and South Korea on the international tourism map, contributing to the economic growth of both countries.

Additionally, Vietnam Airlines, Saigontourist, and Hanatour from South Korea agreed to strengthen cooperation in operating interline tours, developing package tourism products between the two countries, and coordinating the promotion of Vietnam – South Korea destinations through international media channels.
