The People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has recently approved the investment project for the sea reclamation project as part of the Can Gio Sea Urban Area Tourism Development Project in Can Gio district, Ho Chi Minh City.

The project aims to develop the Can Gio Sea Urban Area into a coastal tourism, resort, convention, and smart city destination, offering high-tech services, residential areas, and hotels. The project is set to be completed by 2031.

The sea reclamation area covers 1,357.12 hectares, with a total investment of over VND 64 trillion.

The construction site is located in Long Hoa commune and Can Thanh town, Can Gio district. The scope of the sea reclamation project is calculated from the lowest average seawater level over the years.

The investor of the project is the Can Gio Tourism Urban Joint Stock Company, and the consulting units are fully responsible for the accuracy of the content and data in the dossier submitted for appraisal. They are also responsible for incorporating the opinions of related departments and completing the necessary procedures in accordance with regulations.

The investor is also responsible for ensuring the legality and proper use of the project site in accordance with the law. In case the investor does not comply with these regulations, the competent state agency shall handle violations by the economic organization implementing the investment project in accordance with the law.

In addition, the investor must organize construction surveys (geology, topography, hydrology, etc.) in accordance with regulations to serve the detailed design and ensure the most reasonable, economical, and efficient design solutions.

They are also responsible for organizing the design and design appraisal, selecting appropriate design options to ensure technical safety, economy, and efficiency, as well as connectivity with related works and projects. Construction organization plans must ensure traffic safety, labor safety, and environmental protection.

The design and construction design of the project after the feasibility design must have an independent calculation sheet for checking the accuracy of the design results, ensuring rationality, safety, economy, and technical efficiency.

The structure of the project components and technical solutions can be changed in the subsequent design steps to improve the quality and efficiency of the project, provided that all necessary procedures are followed and the project objectives are not changed. In addition, the detailed structure of the project components must comply with the Law on Intellectual Property and other relevant regulations (if any).

The Department of Natural Resources and Environment is responsible for guiding, inspecting, and supervising the investor and related units during the project implementation process to ensure environmental protection, the existing irrigation and flood protection works, and the protection of the shore and future flood protection works.
