On May 14, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha received Mr. Tran Tu Xuong, General Director of China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC), a subsidiary of China Railway Construction Corporation.
At the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister stated that developing modern, high-speed railways is a strategic priority for the Vietnamese government and has been identified as a top priority for the country’s current stage of development.
Vietnam welcomes the interest and proactive cooperation of Chinese businesses, including CRCC, with Vietnamese enterprises to enhance their competitiveness in technology, quality, and pricing when participating in the investment and construction of modern, high-speed railways in Vietnam.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, Vietnam hopes to learn from China’s experiences and best practices in developing its modern, high-speed railway system. Chinese enterprises such as CRCC play a crucial role in technology transfer and supporting Vietnamese businesses to master and develop modern railway technologies.
The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that CRCC focus on long-term investment and business strategies, mutually sharing benefits, and contributing to the development of Vietnam’s railway industry and ecosystem.
Mr. Tran Tu Xuong highlighted some of the prominent high-speed railway projects that CRCC has undertaken in China and other countries, expressing their interest and aspiration to engage in Vietnam’s high-speed railway projects and the connectivity of Vietnam and China’s railway networks.
The leadership of CRCC pledged that if selected to participate in Vietnam’s modern railway projects, they would ensure high standards, good quality, and timely completion. They also committed to closely cooperating with Vietnamese enterprises in sharing, transferring, and supporting Vietnamese businesses in mastering and developing technologies within Vietnam’s railway industry and ecosystem.
China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) is a central state-owned enterprise under the supervision of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council. It is one of the world’s strongest and largest comprehensive construction companies.
CRCC ranks 39th in the Fortune Global 500, 3rd among the top 250 global contractors by ENR magazine, and 12th in the “Top 500 Chinese Enterprises” in 2021. The corporation has constructed 20,000 kilometers of railways and 8,000 kilometers of highways in China.
China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) is a subsidiary of CRCC, mainly undertaking railway construction projects overseas. To date, CRCC has completed over 9,000 kilometers of railways abroad, accounting for 80% of China’s total railway construction volume outside the country.
Previously, in November 2022, during his working visit to China, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Mr. Dai Hoa Can, Chairman of the CRCC Board of Directors. The group expressed its interest in participating in railway, urban rail, highway infrastructure, and emerging strategic industries in Vietnam, with a spirit of mutual benefit and shared growth, contributing to the socio-economic development of Vietnam.
In particular, the group is highly interested and currently studying the possibility of participating in the implementation of the Kunming-Lao Cai-Hanoi-Haiphong railway line and is also researching the possibility of participating in Vietnam’s North-South high-speed railway project.
