Today, May 19th, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Tu Lien Bridge and the two-headed road from the intersection with Nghi Tam Street to the intersection with Truong Sa Street was held in front of the intersection with Truong Sa Street (Km4+400), Dong Hoi Ward, Dong Anh District, Hanoi.
With a total length of 5.15 km, the project has its starting point at the intersection with Nghi Tam Street in Tay Ho District and its endpoint at the intersection with Truong Sa Street in Dong Anh District. The approach road on the Nghi Tam side is 48 meters wide, while the Dong Anh side is 60 meters wide. The main bridge will be 43 meters wide. In addition, the project will also include two intersections with Nghi Tam and Truong Sa Streets, tunnels, and technical infrastructure, sidewalks, lighting, architectural lighting, and greenery.
The total investment for the project is estimated at nearly VND 20,000 billion, and it will be implemented in the form of EPC – Engineering, Procurement, and Construction. The construction is scheduled to take place from 2025 to 2027.

The Tu Lien Bridge, with its cable-stayed architecture, long twisted pillars, and two-plane cables, will create an architectural highlight with its large main span length and tower height, and the cross-twisted cable pattern on one plane.
According to the approved plan, the Tu Lien Bridge will retain its original cable-stayed design with long, twisted pillars. This will be the second bridge in Hanoi to be built in this style after the Nhat Tan Bridge.
The design of the Tu Lien Bridge reflects the cultural and historical essence of Hanoi, resembling a dragon soaring from the water into the sky.
According to the Hanoi People’s Committee, the construction of the Tu Lien Bridge and the road from the bridge to the Hanoi – Thai Nguyen Expressway is of great importance as it will connect the northern and northeastern regions of the Red River, including Thai Nguyen Province.
Previously, the Tu Lien Bridge project was approved by the Hanoi People’s Committee under Decision No. 1291/QD-UBND dated March 30, 2020.
The Hanoi People’s Committee assigned the Hanoi Transport Project Management Board to coordinate with the Department of Construction and consulting units to organize the preparation of a feasibility study report for the Tu Lien Bridge project and the road connecting the bridge to the Hanoi – Thai Nguyen Expressway.
Upon completion, the project is expected to reduce traffic congestion from the city center to the northern provinces, while also stimulating investment and urban development in Dong Anh District and its surrounding areas. This strategic move is a step towards shaping Hanoi’s future as a modern, multi-centered metropolis.
The Tu Lien Bridge is considered a crucial project, drawing special attention and direction from the Central Party and Government leaders. It is expected to connect with the National Exhibition Center and the road from Gia Binh Airport in Bac Ninh Province to the city center, contributing to the socio-economic development of the capital and realizing the goal of achieving an 8% growth rate in 2025 and setting the stage for double-digit growth in the 2026-2030 period.
