According to Báo Nam Định, the Nam Định provincial police have issued an administrative fine to Thanh Binh An Lac Vien Joint Stock Company for two violations: posting incorrect cremation and ceremony service prices; and providing services at higher prices than those approved, for a total fine of 19 million VND. The company is also required to refund the excess amount to 20,146 affected customers, totaling over 10 billion VND. The refunds will be made from May 24, 2025, to June 23, 2025.

The company was found to have charged additional fees for different types of coffins, longer cremation times, and more elaborate ceremony rooms. They have now rectified their posted prices and received approval for their cremation service fees. Thanh Binh has also confirmed that families are allowed to bring their own urns or caskets for the ashes.

Families who choose to cremate their loved ones at the company’s facility have the option to bring their own caskets or purchase them on-site. Previously, there were complaints on social media about the company not allowing families to bring their own urns or caskets and forcing them to purchase more expensive options. There were also reports of additional charges for better-looking remains and higher package prices than advertised.

In response to the public backlash, the Nam Định People’s Committee requested that the company provide clarification on the issues raised in the clip and their service prices, as well as any corrective measures taken.
