The VinFast EC Van, a small electric cargo vehicle, is taking Vietnam by storm with its low operating costs, attractive incentives, and profit-generating potential, akin to a “money-printing machine” for individuals and enterprises alike.

VinFast EC Van Creates a Frenzy in the Automotive Market

As of 8 a.m. today (May 25), the Vietnamese automaker officially started early reservations for the EC Van, priced at just VND 285 million (including the battery), along with a VND 10 million discount deducted directly from the vehicle’s price. This promotion is valid for six days, from May 25 to May 30. The reservation fee for the EC Van is VND 7 million, payable through the website, official dealer network nationwide, or Xanh SM partners.

True to earlier predictions, this pioneering small electric cargo vehicle in Vietnam continues to create a new frenzy.

Mr. Huu Tai, owner of an electrical equipment store in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, was one of the first customers to successfully place an order just minutes after VinFast opened early reservations.

“I went online right at 8 a.m. to make the reservation, taking advantage of the VND 10 million discount and the opportunity to be among the first owners of a vehicle that doesn’t incur fuel costs, can freely enter the city center, and has ample cargo space,” said an excited Mr. Tai.

At the same time, Mr. Nguyen Chien, owner of a grocery store and delivery service in Dong Da, Hanoi, also completed his reservation for the EC Van. Mr. Chien mentioned that small business owners like himself need a vehicle that can serve both as a means of transportation and a mobile warehouse. A small, versatile, and cost-effective vehicle like the EC Van is indeed a perfect fit.

“Early reservation of the EC Van translates to significant savings, including the VND 10 million discount and future exemption of over VND 30 million in registration fees. Moreover, the EC Van is also exempt from charging fees at VinFast’s charging stations until the end of June 2027, making it an even more lucrative deal the earlier one purchases,” calculated Mr. Chien.

Across various social media groups related to electric vehicles, delivery services, and business, EC Van was the hottest keyword on the first day of reservations. Additionally, according to reports, many VinFast dealers also witnessed high levels of interest and reservations for the EC Van in the early hours of May 25.

A “Money-Making Machine” for All Industries

From a professional perspective, Mr. Thanh Trung, a long-time market observer, is not surprised by the positive market reception for VinFast’s new electric vehicle.

According to Mr. Trung, compared to traditional cargo vehicles, the EC Van boasts a compact size (3,767 mm in length, 1,680 mm in width, and 1,790 mm in height) that allows for easy maneuvering through narrow city streets. Its small turning radius facilitates quick turns and convenient parking in crowded residential areas or alleys.

Contrary to its small stature, the EC Van impresses with its cargo capacity: a generous 2,600 liters of cargo space, a payload of over 600 kg, and the longest wheelbase in its class (2,520 mm), making it suitable for transporting a diverse range of goods, from groceries, food, and electronics to plants and repair equipment.

Moreover, the EC Van is equipped with a 40 horsepower electric motor and a maximum torque of up to 110 Nm, significantly higher than popular gasoline-powered cargo vans like the Suzuki Blind Van. As a result, the EC Van delivers robust acceleration and stable performance, even when fully loaded.

Mr. Trung also commends VinFast for integrating a series of advanced safety features into the EC Van, including Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Traction Control System (TCS), and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS).

“These features enhance safety during city driving or sudden braking while carrying heavy loads. This advantage sets the EC Van apart from its gasoline-powered counterparts, which often omit such features to optimize costs,” Mr. Trung assessed.

Delving into its functionality, Mr. Trung mentions that with a maximum range of 150 km per charge, the EC Van effortlessly meets the daily transportation needs of delivery companies, food stores, mobile repair services, and industrial cleaning services, which typically travel less than 100 km per day. Additionally, electric vehicles are not restricted from operating in city centers during certain hours, allowing delivery drivers or business owners to operate continuously, increasing trips and income.

According to industry observers, the EC Van will likely appeal to large logistics enterprises while also offering an opportunity for households and small businesses to own a “premium” delivery vehicle—a step up from their previous choices of old or substandard gasoline vehicles to save on initial investment costs.

“The EC Van is the answer to urban cargo transportation needs. When considering functionality and cost optimization, the EC Van has no rivals. This model could become a phenomenon in the commercial vehicle market, ushering in a new ‘green era’ for the transportation industry,” Mr. Trung confidently stated.

According to the plan, the first VinFast EC Vans will be delivered to customers from November 2025.
