In response to allegations circulating on social media that Cong Ty Co Phan Chan Nuoi C.P. Vietnam was selling unhygienic meat, on May 30, Soc Trang Province People’s Committee Chairman Tran Van Lau directed the police to intervene and inspect the situation.

Following an inspection of Cong Ty CP Chan Nuoi C.P. Vietnam’s store in My Xuyen town, Mr. Lam Minh Hoang, head of the Soc Trang Province Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sub-Department, confirmed that the store met all food safety requirements.

The inspection team consisted of representatives from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Economic Police, and the Soc Trang Province Market Management Bureau. The inspection found that the meat sold had veterinary slaughter control stamps, no signs of preservatives affecting consumer health were detected, and all necessary import-export documents and invoices were in order.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Mai, store manager of the C.P. store in My Xuyen, stated that the person who spread this information was a former employee of the company, who had been dismissed in 2023 for violating regulations. “The company is investigating and verifying the motives of this individual”, Ms. Xuan Mai informed.

As reported by VTC News, on the morning of May 30, social media accounts associated with “Jonny Lieu” – allegedly an employee of Cong Ty Co Phan Chan Nuoi C.P. Vietnam’s sales department, specializing in the pork sector – made accusations regarding the company’s meat business.

“Jonny Lieu” claimed that during his time working at the C.P. Fresh Shop in My Xuyen, Soc Trang, he, along with other employees and local people, noticed unusual activities related to meat sales at the store.

The account holder further accused C.P. Vietnam of mixing diseased pork and chicken meat and even selling putrid meat with abscesses, pus, or those that had been pre-processed.

In response to these allegations, Cong Ty Co Phan Chan Nuoi C.P. Vietnam issued a statement to its customers and partners on the same day, firmly denying the accusations. They asserted that the information and images shared by the aforementioned social media accounts were fabricated and intended to tarnish the company’s reputation.

“We assure our customers and partners that our products undergo strict veterinary and quality control procedures, ensuring food safety before reaching the market. We are actively cooperating with relevant authorities to address this matter.” the statement emphasized.

C.P. Vietnam also assured the public that they are working diligently with relevant authorities to address the issue and clarify the situation.
