On June 3, Mr. Le Tien Chau, Secretary of the Haiphong Party Committee, chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee for site clearance for the construction project of the Lao Cai – Hanoi – Haiphong railway line, passing through the city.
At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho, Vice Chairman of Haiphong People’s Committee, and a representative of the Railway Project Management Board (Ministry of Construction) reported on the progress of tasks related to site clearance, resettlement, and others.
Accordingly, up to now, localities have completed the determination and marking of the expected project scope, completed the land map, and are coordinating with the Railway Project Management Board (Ministry of Construction) to finalize and approve the land map…

Representatives of departments, branches, and districts suggested that the project owner soon approve and publicly announce the official route; speed up the construction of resettlement areas; and study the plan to upgrade the Quoc Tuan Technical Operation Station and Nam Dinh Vu Station into a passenger station to facilitate passenger movement when the project is put into operation…
At the meeting, Mr. Le Tien Chau emphasized that the investment project for the construction of the Lao Cai – Hanoi – Haiphong railway line is a key national project with strategic significance in developing transport connectivity.
Especially, the project will create an important driving force for the socio-economic development of Haiphong city. The city agrees to contribute about VND 11,000 billion from the local budget to implement the project, in the section passing through the city.
The Secretary of the Haiphong Party Committee requested that the branches, departments, and localities concerned raise their sense of responsibility and focus on well implementing the requirements and tasks in the coming time.
Through research and practical survey, Haiphong agreed on the route orientation of the Lao Cai – Hanoi – Haiphong railway line passing through the city as in the feasibility study. However, the city proposed that the Railway Project Management Board (Ministry of Construction) supplement the investment in a shared road in the Dinh Vu area and then hand it over to the city for maintenance to facilitate the travel and operation of enterprises here.

Haiphong leaders requested a study on the plan to upgrade the Quoc Tuan Technical Operation Station and Nam Dinh Vu Station into a passenger station. They also urged the early agreement and handover of the official project route to help the locality accurately determine the site clearance boundary and implement the next steps; and enhance coordination with the city to promptly report to the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Construction to remove difficulties and problems arising in reality…
Mr. Le Tien Chau also requested that the City People’s Committee soon organize a dialogue with enterprises in the Dinh Vu area to create consensus and unanimity in project implementation; and direct the Project Management Board of Traffic and Agricultural Construction Works to soon start constructing resettlement areas to serve site clearance. The resettlement areas need to be built in convenient locations with complete infrastructure to ensure the smooth life of the people.
