On Vietnam’s side, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien communicated the main points in Vietnam’s response documents regarding the additional issues raised by the US, while affirming Vietnam’s determination and goodwill in finding common ground and action with the US.

Based on this, the Minister requested that the US Trade Representative, Jamieson Greer, share his perspectives on the issues of interest to Vietnam.

The US Trade Representative highly appreciated Vietnam’s goodwill, approach, and handling of the US proposals, while acknowledging the efforts and constructive spirit of the Vietnamese negotiation delegation.

The US Trade Representative stated that Vietnam is a comprehensive strategic partner of the United States and that reaching an agreement with Vietnam on the countervailing duty policy at this time is important not only for Vietnam but also for the United States.

He also responded quite positively to the issues of interest to Vietnam and proposed solutions to handle complex issues in the negotiation process.

The two ministers agreed to expedite the negotiation process, especially by maximizing efforts to achieve the best results in the third round of technical negotiations.

They also concurred to task the technical level with intensified exchanges through online working sessions by content groups to resolve as many remaining technical issues as possible, creating the best momentum for the third technical round, expected to be held in the first half of June 2025.

The two ministers committed to continuing close coordination and remained ready to hold further ministerial-level exchanges to advance the negotiation process toward a suitable outcome for both sides.
