Regarding the Tran Duy Hung – Lang intersection, a representative from the Department of Construction informed Tien Phong that a U-turn spot before the red light stop line is being arranged at the Tran Duy Hung – Lang – Nguyen Khang intersection towards Nguyen Chi Thanh to reduce the number of vehicles converging at the junction.

“This U-turn spot is located under the T2-T3 span of the Nguyen Chi Thanh – Tran Duy Hung flyover,” said the Department of Construction. “Its length is 9 meters, and the height clearance with the bridge beam above is 3.4 meters, accommodating cars and motorbikes to conveniently turn around under the flyover.”

Long queues at the Tran Duy Hung – Lang intersection in recent days.

According to the survey and inspection results, the Department of Construction stated that the height clearance under the bridge, from span T1 to M1, ranges from 1.0 meter to 2.0 meters, and from span T1 to T2, it ranges from 2.2 meters to 3.0 meters.

The representative from the Department of Construction assessed that the actual height clearance under the bridge at this section is insufficient for vehicles to safely pass through and make U-turns. Therefore, creating a U-turn spot by cutting the median at span T1-T2 is not feasible.

However, the representative also acknowledged that the current U-turn spot at spans T2-T3 is too close to the red light stop line. When the red light comes on, vehicles, including cars, stop and wait, unintentionally blocking the U-turn lane, preventing other vehicles from accessing it.

To address this issue, the Department of Construction suggested that there is a need to recalculate and re-evaluate the traffic flow in this area. They proposed expanding the U-turn spot and adjusting the red light duration to reduce the number of vehicles queued up on Tran Duy Hung Street.
