The leadership of Binh Duong province has recently agreed upon the elevated option for the Thu Dau Mot (Binh Duong’s capital city) – Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Line No.2, with an estimated investment of VND 53,000 billion. Mr. Vo Van Minh, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, considered this option optimal as it would save a significant amount of capital.
The Thu Dau Mot – Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Line No.2 project starts at Phu My ward, Thu Dau Mot city (connecting to S5 station of Line No.1) and ends at Vinh Phu ward, Thuan An city, connecting to Ho Chi Minh City’s Line No.3 extension at Hiep Binh Phuoc ward, Thu Duc city.
The line is 21.87 km long and is expected to have approximately 13 stations (1 elevated and 12 underground) and 1 depot (shared with Line No.1 in Phu Chanh ward, Tan Uyen city or with Line No.3 in Hiep Binh Phuoc ward, Thu Duc city). The line will pass through Thu Dau Mot and Thuan An, with a capacity of 30,000 – 40,000 passengers/direction/hour, connecting Binh Duong’s capital to Ho Chi Minh City and other urban areas along the railway.
The Urban Railway Line No.2 project is expected to alleviate traffic congestion, especially with the integration of Binh Duong and Ho Chi Minh City, while enhancing seamless connectivity and promoting socio-economic development in the newly merged Ho Chi Minh City.
