On June 5th, the Department of Agriculture and Environment in Hue City announced that they have requested the Hue City Asset Auction Service Center to temporarily halt the auction of mining rights for two mineral mines in the area. This decision was made due to the discovery of potential violations in the participation applications of several organizations.

Prior to this, on April 28th, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hue City signed a contract with the Hue City Asset Auction Service Center to organize the first auction of 2025 for two mineral mines. These included a mine for soil used as filling material in Duong Hoa, Huong Thuy Town, and an ordinary construction stone mine in the North of Khe Ly, Long Ho Ward, Phu Xuan District, Hue City.

The auction was scheduled to take place at 8:30 AM on June 6th. However, just before the event, the Department received information from authorities indicating potential violations in the asset auction regulations by some participating organizations.

As a result, the Department has requested a temporary halt to the auction in order to investigate and verify the information. This ensures that the auction process complies with legal regulations and protects the rights and interests of all involved parties. Once the investigation is concluded, an official announcement will be made regarding the rescheduled auction.

According to previously announced information, the two mineral mines have a large scale with an estimated value of tens of billions of dong. Specifically, the soil mine in Duong Hoa has a reserve of approximately 3.3 million cubic meters, with a starting price of nearly VND 5.2 billion, a deposit of nearly VND 776 million, and a bidding price increment of 10% of the mineral exploitation fee.

The stone mine in Bac Khe Ly has a reserve of about 4 million cubic meters, a starting price of nearly VND 16 billion, a deposit of nearly VND 2.4 billion, and a similar bidding price increment of 10%.

In 2024, the Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thua Thien-Hue Province (now Hue City) issued Official Letter No. 3770/UBND-XD on strengthening the management of mineral exploitation activities in the province. The letter instructed relevant departments, sectors, and localities to proactively develop and effectively implement security plans for mineral exploitation right auctions.
