Mitsubishi Motors Vietnam Festival 2025 kicked off in Hanoi on June 7-8 and will continue in Ho Chi Minh City from June 21-22, showcasing the DST Concept to the local market.
Positioned as a mid-size 7-seater SUV with a unibody platform, the DST Concept is poised to become Mitsubishi’s new flagship model for the ASEAN market, alongside the Xforce and Xpander.
According to Mr. Yanagawa Tomoki, General Director of MMV, the commercial version of the DST Concept will be well-suited to the Vietnamese market, unlike the Mitsubishi Outlander, which is positioned in a higher segment. However, he did not comment on the future of the Outlander in the domestic market.
In terms of design, the DST Concept boasts a robust and modern appearance with its angular and square-shaped body. The front end stands out with Mitsubishi’s signature Dynamic Shield grille, featuring a three-dimensional effect and a honeycomb mesh pattern behind a transparent layer.
The LED headlights and taillights of the DST Concept are similar to those found on the recently launched Mitsubishi Xforce.
Some notable exterior features include dark-tinted side pillars, a high ground clearance, muscular wheel arches with large tires, and side cameras that serve as side-view mirrors. The concept model sports 20-inch alloy wheels, while the production version is likely to have smaller wheels.
The DST Concept boasts a spacious and luxurious interior. The display model features premium soft-touch materials on the door panels, dashboard, and seats.
The dashboard features a digital instrument cluster seamlessly integrated with the central touchscreen, reminiscent of the Xforce. The center console houses a unique-shaped gear lever and a dial for selecting drive modes.
In terms of space, the DST Concept offers ample room in all three rows, even for passengers over 1.7 meters tall, based on visual observations.
Located behind the front seats is a foldable table, a feature likely to be retained in the production model as the DST Concept is designed with family use in mind.
A large glass roof enhances the sense of spaciousness and lets in natural light. However, this feature may not make it to the production model due to Vietnam’s tropical climate.
While Mitsubishi has not yet disclosed the engine and powertrain details of the production model, MMV has confirmed that the DST Concept will offer a spacious 3-row cabin, five drive modes, tire pressure sensors, and an ADAS safety package. The company also hinted at a possible launch in 2025.
