Implementing Directive 20/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister on enhancing electricity conservation, Hanoi Power Corporation (EVNHANOI) has rolled out a series of synchronized programs and solutions, engaging the broader participation of the capital’s residents.

EVNHANOI encourages customers to start with simple habits such as turning off devices when not in use, maximizing natural light and ventilation, setting air conditioners at 26°C or higher, and replacing old appliances with energy-efficient models. These small actions have helped tens of thousands of households reduce their monthly electricity consumption by 10-30%.

Beyond households, government agencies and businesses are also urged to participate. Many textile, mechanical, and food enterprises have invested in smart lighting systems, variable frequency drives for motors, and modern production lines, significantly cutting operational costs. To date, nearly 3,300 major customers in the area have signed agreements to join the Demand Response (DR) program, with an expected reduction capacity of 205.4 MW.

Additionally, in 2025, EVNHANOI has signed agreements with 600 industrial customers consuming over 1 million kWh annually to participate in the load shifting program during peak hours from April to July 2025. This highlights the growing role of businesses in electricity conservation efforts. Their proactive involvement not only eases pressure on the national power grid during peak times but also underscores their commitment to sustainable and efficient energy use.

Statistics show that electricity savings in the first eight months of 2025 reached 464.49 million kWh, an increase of 40.86 million kWh compared to the same period in 2024, reflecting positive changes from both residents and businesses. EVNHANOI aims to save at least 2.2% of commercial electricity in 2025, considering it a key metric for improving energy efficiency across the capital.
