According to the Government’s electronic information portal, on the afternoon of September 23, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung conducted an inspection and working session on the implementation progress of projects serving the 2027 APEC Senior Week. During his third inspection, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed delight at the active construction atmosphere across the sites.

The projects inspected and reviewed on-site by the Deputy Prime Minister included Phu Quoc International Airport, Duong Dong 2 Lake, Cua Can Lake, and the APEC Conference Center.

Immediately afterward, the Deputy Prime Minister and Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee, Nguyen Tien Hai, co-chaired a meeting with central ministries, local authorities, and investors to discuss the preparation and construction progress of projects and facilities for the 2027 APEC Conference.

According to the report from the People’s Committee of An Giang Province, the province issued a Decision approving the adjusted Provincial Planning on August 15, 2025. Additionally, on August 22, 2025, the People’s Committee issued Decision 658/QD-UBND approving the partial adjustment of the General Planning for Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone.

Regarding project progress, out of 10 public investment projects, 8 have been approved and contractors selected. For 3 out of 4 resettlement area projects—Cua Can Lake Resettlement Area, Sui Lon Lake Resettlement Area, and Ham Ninh Resettlement Area—the Provincial People’s Committee has directed departments and investors to expedite procedures for project approval in September 2025.

Furthermore, out of 11 public-private partnership (PPP) and business investment projects, 7 have selected investors.

After hearing discussions from ministries, local authorities, and investors, the Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged positive developments in implementation but candidly noted that progress remains slower than required. Therefore, he urged relevant agencies to proactively and decisively fulfill their assigned tasks.

Emphasizing the substantial workload and limited time before the APEC Conference, the Deputy Prime Minister called on ministries, investors, contractors, and An Giang Province to learn from delays, mobilize the entire political system, and ensure projects are executed optimally, swiftly, and with high quality.

He also stressed the importance of upholding the principle, “Say it, do it; commit to it, fulfill it.” Agencies must proactively resolve bottlenecks, promptly report issues beyond their authority, and ensure transparent implementation to prevent corruption, waste, and group interests, with strict project oversight.

Regarding An Giang Province’s proposal for funding two coastal road projects, the Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged the request and advised the province to reassess, explore options, and collaborate with the Ministry of Finance to report to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision.
