The event marks a significant milestone in the collaborative relationship between the two units and opens up new advances in the journey to improve community healthcare quality in Vietnam.
As part of the collaboration, Long Châu and Merck will implement large-scale community screening programs from July to October 2025, focusing on three common chronic conditions that pose significant challenges to the healthcare system in Vietnam: diabetes, prediabetes, thyroid disorders, and hypertension. The program will be organized in many provinces and cities, with the two units coordinating with medical facilities, along with a team of healthcare experts and specialized doctors, to directly perform screening procedures, provide consultations, and support the community in early detection and effective disease management.
With a focus on early intervention, the activities will concentrate on identifying and detecting risks before clinical symptoms appear. For diabetes, the program enables early identification from the prediabetes stage, facilitating timely intervention, lifestyle adjustments, and slowing down the disease’s progression. In the case of endocrine disorders, particularly hypothyroidism, a common disorder in women, early screening plays a crucial role in minimizing impacts on overall health, fertility, and the risk of developing thyroid cancer. Additionally, for hypertension, individuals will benefit from blood pressure measurements combined with heart rate assessments, contributing to comprehensive control and prevention of serious cardiovascular complications and strokes.
At the event, Ms. Nguyen Do Quyen, Deputy General Director of FPT Retail and Director of the FPT Long Châu Pharmacy and Vaccination System, shared: “Today’s signing event clearly demonstrates the unwavering community commitment of Long Châu and Merck. Enhancing control over risk factors, intensifying prevention measures, early detection, and efficient disease management will ensure that the community does not miss the golden opportunity for treatment. Long Châu believes that, with Merck’s support, we are contributing to enhancing the quality of life for millions of patients with chronic illnesses.”
Ms. Ghislaine Dondellinger, General Director of Merck Healthcare Vietnam, expressed: “We are honored to collaborate with FPT Long Châu in improving community health through chronic disease screening programs. Early detection enables timely treatment, enhances quality of life, and reduces the burden on the healthcare system. Embracing the philosophy of ‘Patients First’, Merck strives to deliver innovative healthcare solutions. Early prevention will contribute to improving the health of individuals and building a stronger, healthier community.
Long Châu and Merck unite in the journey to care for the community nationwide. Simultaneously, the two units are also intensifying community education and awareness-raising initiatives, connecting the screening program with hospitals and healthcare organizations, thereby contributing to the development of a proactive, efficient, and sustainable preventive healthcare system – for a healthier Vietnam through practical and meaningful actions.
