Market Management Crackdown on Counterfeit Fashion Items in Kien Giang Province
On the morning of June 13, the Market Management Department announced that two days prior, their forces in Kien Giang Province inspected and discovered 721 fashion items, including clothing of various types, produced abroad without clear origin and with signs of trademark infringement. The total value of the seized goods amounted to VND 210 million.
The business owner was unable to produce relevant invoices or documents for the items. Team 7 of the Market Management Force temporarily confiscated the goods and is in the process of verifying and supplementing evidence to solidify the case.
On June 11, Team 4 of the Market Management Force conducted a surprise inspection at S.F.S, a business located in Duong Dong Ward, Phu Quoc City. They discovered 144 bags on display, suspected of bearing counterfeit trademarks of luxury brands such as Gucci, Chanel, and Burberry, with a total value of VND 165 million.
Similarly, the business operator could not provide invoices or related documents for these items. Team 4 seized all the exhibits and took operational measures, contacting the trademark right holders’ representatives in Vietnam to verify and clarify the infringement.
Earlier, on June 4, Team 4 inspected and discovered a business establishment displaying and selling items suspected of bearing counterfeit LASCOTE trademarks, with a total value of VND 142.5 million. The team is in the process of finalizing the dossier for submission to the competent authority for a sanction decision.
