The first weir dam on the To Lich River has been completed at Cau Quang, Thanh Liet, Thanh Tri. To facilitate the project of diverting water from the Red River into the To Lich River, the Hanoi People’s Committee has assigned specialized departments to construct three weir dams to retain water in the river.

The three weir dams are strategically located at Cau Cot (Yen Hoa, Cau Giay), Cau Dau (Linh Dam, Hoang Mai), and Cau Quang (Thanh Liet, Thanh Tri). These structures serve a vital purpose in maintaining stable water levels and preventing rapid water flow into the Nhue River after the diversion from the Red River.

Among the three dams, the weir dam at Cau Quang is the first to be constructed, and the construction units have substantially completed the main structure. The dam features two water retention walls and an observation deck, offering a unique perspective of the river.

The Cau Quang weir dam, as seen from above, comprises two water retention walls and an observation deck, providing a bird’s-eye view of the river and the surrounding landscape.

With the retaining walls and observation deck in place, the construction units are now focusing on concrete pouring to create a sturdy wall and prevent erosion on both sides of the riverbank.

According to the Hanoi city construction schedule, the weir dam at Cau Quang is expected to be completed by August 2025, and the water diversion into the To Lich River will commence in September 2025.
