In a recent development, the New South Wales (NSW) police in Australia have busted a sophisticated large-scale counterfeit luxury goods syndicate, with estimated illicit proceeds of AUD 9.7 million (approximately over VND 160 billion).
The case has shocked the public as hundreds of counterfeit luxury items and supercars were seized from the suspects’ villas in Sydney.

Among the items seized were  nine supercars from prestigious brands such as Lamborghini, Porsche, McLaren, and Mercedes, with a combined estimated value of over AUD 3 million (nearly VND 51 billion). In addition, the police also confiscated AUD 270,000 in cash and over 500 counterfeit items.

According to the NSW police, the group used social media to advertise and sell counterfeit goods to unsuspecting customers.
Peter Faux, Commander of the Organized Crime Squad, stated that this was a well-organized “counterfeit empire” with the clear intention of profiting from deceiving consumers and damaging the reputation of international brands.
The NSW Crime Commission has seized all assets from the case and is taking the necessary legal steps to permanently confiscate and return them to the community.
