Vina T&T Group Innovates with All-You-Can-Eat Durian Buffet

There has been a recent buzz in the online community about a unique offering by Vina T&T Group, a leading fresh fruit exporter in Vietnam. The company hosted a durian buffet in Ho Chi Minh City, inviting guests to indulge in an unlimited supply of premium Ri 6 durians for just VND 199,000 per person. This price point has sparked excitement among durian enthusiasts, who consider it a bargain for the opportunity to savor their favorite fruit to their heart’s content.

The event took place at a prominent fruit store in District 10, attracting attention from across the city. This is not the first time Vina T&T Group has organized such an event; they previously collaborated with a supermarket in Tien Giang to offer a similar all-you-can-eat durian feast for the same attractive price. On both occasions, guests were treated to a durian extravaganza, with over one ton of export-quality durians available for their enjoyment.

Vina T&T Group is a prominent player in Vietnam’s fresh fruit export industry.

Vina T&T Group is a diversified conglomerate with a strong presence in the fresh fruit export sector. Established in 2014, the company made its mark by exporting dragon fruit in 2015 and successfully entering the US market with Ben Tre coconuts in 2017, challenging Thailand’s market share. Today, Vina T&T exports fruit to 15 countries, including demanding markets like the US, EU, Japan, Australia, and Canada. They operate five packaging plants and export approximately 1,500 tons of fruit monthly, with a remarkable daily capacity of 25 tons for durians alone.

In addition to their export prowess, Vina T&T has diversified into other areas, including premium fruit retail, tourism (Soha Travel), and a café chain (The Bunny Coffee). They have opened their first retail store in Ho Chi Minh City (79 Tran Huy Lieu, Phu Nhuan) and aim to expand to Da Nang and Hanoi. The company is also investing significantly in online sales to compete with retailers like Klever Fruits in the domestic market.

Record-Low Durian Prices

Vina T&T Group’s durian buffet comes at a time when the market is experiencing significant fluctuations. Durian prices, particularly for the popular Ri6 variety, have plummeted to unprecedented lows, with some reports indicating a price of just VND 25,000 per kg in Vietnam as of June 2025. This situation can be attributed to heightened quality inspections by China, the world’s largest consumer of durians and Vietnam’s primary export market.

China’s stricter checks for heavy metals and carcinogenic substances have impacted Vietnamese durian exports. Additionally, Vietnam faces increased competition from Thailand and Malaysia, whose main harvest seasons are in full swing, offering larger volumes and more consistent quality. Malaysia’s recent permission to export fresh durians to China further intensifies the competition. With Vietnam’s durian exports heavily reliant on the Chinese market (over 80% of export revenue), the abundance of international supply has exerted downward pressure on prices.
