Cooking Oil for Animal Feed “Transformed” into… “Premium Cooking Oil” for Humans

According to VTV, the Ofood cooking oil brand from Nhat Minh Food Production and Import-Export Company is widely sold in the market as a food supplement with added vitamin A.

However, test results show that this cooking oil does not contain any vitamins as declared and is actually for animal feed, not human consumption.

The unethical Ofood cooking oil – made from animal feed oil

Through unscrupulous individuals, animal feed oil has been transformed and marketed as a “premium” cooking oil under the Ofood brand, with misleading claims such as “soybean oil”, “refined vegetable oil”, and “superior quality”…

The price of this falsely labeled animal feed oil is very cheap, at only VND 175,000 per 4.5-liter can.

According to PGS.TS Nguyen Duy Thinh, former lecturer at the Institute of Biotechnology and Food Technology, Hanoi University of Technology, this type of animal feed oil is not permitted for human consumption.

Animal feed oil is extracted from vegetable oil, usually crude oil that has not been refined. This type of oil is used to supplement fat for animals and often contains many impurities. There is also another type of animal feed oil that is “waste oil” (oil that has been used multiple times in restaurants and then collected).

In conclusion, animal feed oil intended for animals is completely unsuitable for human consumption. The actions of Nhat Minh Food are highly condemnable and deserve appropriate punishment.

Choosing Quality Food: Understanding the “3 Rights” Principle

The discovery of low-quality and counterfeit food products has caused concern among consumers.

“Seeing these familiar items being exposed, I feel truly confused. Can someone assure me that the products my family has been using are safe?”, expressed Ms. Nguyen Thao (38 years old, Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi).

In response to this situation, Ms. Tran Thanh Huyen, Deputy CEO of Nguyen Hong Co., Ltd., shared her experience in choosing packaged food according to the “3 Rights” principle.

Nguyen Hong is a company with over 20 years of experience in importing, exporting, and trading food products, souvenirs, and cosmetics from Russia. They are partners with major distributors such as WinMart, AEON, and Topsmarket.

Ms. Huyen shared: “The ‘3 Rights’ principle when choosing packaged food is: Right brand and reputable label; Right distributor and authentic point of sale; Right price. By choosing a reputable brand, buying from an authentic distributor, and paying the right price, consumers can minimize the risk of encountering counterfeit or low-quality products.”

Mamruko sunflower oil is a premium Russian cooking oil that ensures quality and nutrition.

“For example, with cooking oil, we are the exclusive importers of Mamruko sunflower oil in the Vietnamese market. Some partners don’t understand and always ask why Mamruko sunflower oil is so expensive. This is because it is a top-quality Russian product. Other companies don’t import it because of its high price. However, the product always ensures quality and nutrition, so we call it the right price, not expensive.”

Mamruko sunflower oil is distributed through Vietnam’s largest supermarket systems. This oil is cold-pressed and does not use solvents, withstanding temperatures up to 240°C, making it ideal for daily frying, cooking, and even salad dressings, delivering delicious flavors while maintaining health.

Remember the “3 Rights” – “Right brand, reputable label; Right distributor, authentic point of sale; Right price” when choosing food for your family.
