On December 1, at the regular Government press conference in January 2024, General Toan Xo, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security, provided information on the investigation of some cases that have attracted public attention in recent times.

According to General Toan Xo, with the motto “handling one case to alert the entire province and the entire field”, the Ministry of Public Security has been active in the fight against corruption and negativity.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security mentioned some prominent cases such as the case related to Viet A Company, the rescue flight case, the market manipulation case related to FLC securities, the case related to SCB Bank… Currently, the police are shifting their focus to the electricity, petroleum, and construction materials sectors.
According to General Toan Xo, the case at Tuan An Group Joint Stock Company and Binh Thuan Power Company is a typical example in the electricity sector.
Initial investigations have identified that the investor and contractors have colluded to inflate the prices of various electrical materials and equipment, ranging from tens to hundreds of percent. Notably, some materials and equipment have had their prices inflated by up to 300%. According to Mr. Toan Xo, when the prices of materials are artificially increased, it is one of the reasons for the increase in electricity prices, causing losses to consumers.
A representative of the Ministry of Public Security emphasized that for the “Viet A variant virus” which is relatively prevalent in some localities, the Ministry of Public Security will have a “vaccine for treatment” in the near future.
The Xuyen Viet Oil case is a typical example of violations in the petroleum sector
Regarding the case that occurred at Xuyen Viet Oil Trading and Transport Co., Ltd., Hai Ha Land and Waterway Transportation Co., Ltd., and some related units, General Toan Xo stated that this is a typical example of violations related to the petroleum sector.
Specifically, there have been violations of regulations on petroleum import and export, management and use of the petroleum price stabilization fund. Hai Ha Land and Waterway Transportation Co., Ltd. has been identified as causing the loss of hundreds of billions of VND.
According to General Toan Xo, the investigating agencies are determined to expedite the progress of the case, with a determined and resolute spirit, without any prohibited areas, without any exceptions, in order to prevent crime and thoroughly recover state assets.
