Notable achievements

In his directions at the conference, Nguyen Van Nen, member of the Politburo and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, reviewed some notable achievements and limitations over the past time.

Regarding party construction and rectification, Nguyen Van Nen stated that the city has faithfully implemented the resolutions and directives of the central authorities in a timely, serious, and effective manner.

In terms of political and ideological work, the city has focused on the implementation of Resolution 4 of the 13th Party Central Committee on party building and rectification, based on the spirit of the resolution. In the fight against ideological, moral, and lifestyle degradation, the city has adopted comprehensive measures and achieved positive changes. The city is also rightly concerned with inspection and supervision work, continuously renewing and improving awareness to ensure that the officials themselves reflect, correct, and make efforts to build a competent team that meets the requirements of the tasks.

Information from the conference reveals that Ho Chi Minh City has achieved good results in many areas

Internal affairs, anti-corruption, negative phenomenon, as well as judicial reform, have been carried out with focused, regular, consistent, and effective measures.

In terms of government construction, the city’s government has increasingly met the requirements and contributed to improving the effectiveness of state administration in all areas. Ho Chi Minh City has adopted many solutions to build a smart, modern urban area. Besides, the city has paid due attention to innovating the application of information technology, digital transformation… to serve the people and businesses.

In addition to the achieved results, Nguyen Van Nen also mentioned many difficulties and obstacles. Some parts of the administrative machinery sometimes operate in a non-synchronized and inefficient manner, especially in terms of coordination, which is one of the bottlenecks. “We are increasingly aware that we must increase our responsibility, take the lead, dare to think and dare to do. This year, we must be resolute in this area, step by step creating more positive changes”, said the Secretary of the Party Committee.

Leveraging favorable conditions

According to Nguyen Van Nen, Ho Chi Minh City will face many challenges in 2024, but it will receive attention from the central authorities, the Politburo, the National Assembly, the Government, and the people across the country. This is the most basic favorable condition.

Another advantage is unity, unanimity, and solidarity, joint effort, and unanimity from various sides and components of society, who are supporting and assisting, creating all conditions for the city’s development. “This is the belief that enables the city to overcome challenges and find creative solutions to achieve the most effective results as set out”, emphasized Nguyen Van Nen.

The Secretary of the Party Committee said that the theme for 2024 is “Enhancing the building and rectification of the Party and the clean and strong political system; focusing on the effective implementation of digital transformation and Resolution 98 of the National Assembly”. Therefore, it is necessary to continue to define political education as the top priority, anti-degeneration work. Along with that, it is necessary to concentrate on comprehensively implementing Resolution 4 of the 13th Party Central Committee.

Inspection work, supervision, digital transformation, action programs such as building Ho Chi Minh’s cultural spaces… are also among the points specially noted by the Secretary of the Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.

Optimizing personnel work

At the conference, Huynh Cach Mang, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, stated that the tasks set for the Organizing Committee for the coming period are to continue to advise, synchronize, and closely coordinate all stages of personnel work.

In addition, efforts will be made to build a team of officials who increasingly meet the requirements of the urban government. It is necessary to build a team of officials with sufficient qualities, capacities, and reputation, accompanying the preparation of personnel for Party congresses for the 2025 – 2030 tenure.
