On January 31, 2024, at the Party Central Committee’s headquarters, the 13th Party Central Committee’s Executive Committee held a meeting to consider and decide on personnel work.
During the meeting, the Party Central Committee’s Executive Committee discussed and gave opinions on the wishes of Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, Politburo member, member of the 13th Party Central Committee’s Executive Committee, and Head of the Central Economic Committee, to retire and resign from his positions.
According to the Party Central Committee’s Executive Committee, Mr. Tran Tuan Anh is a high-ranking official of the Party and the State. He has a basic education and has been entrusted by the Party Central Committee’s Executive Committee and the Politburo to hold important leadership positions.
In his position as the Secretary of the Party Committee and Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Trade for the 2016-2021 term, he made significant efforts in directing and managing the work of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, achieving important results.
However, Mr. Tran Tuan Anh bears political responsibility as the top leader for many violations that have occurred in the Ministry of Industry and Trade, where many officials and Party members have committed legal violations and have been subject to criminal, disciplinary, and administrative proceedings.
Aware of his responsibilities to the Party and the people, he submitted a letter requesting to retire and resign from his assigned positions.
Based on the current regulations of the Party and the State and considering the personal wishes, the Party Central Committee’s Executive Committee agreed to allow Mr. Tran Tuan Anh to retire from the positions of Politburo member and member of the 13th Party Central Committee’s Executive Committee.
Mr. Tran Tuan Anh was born on April 6, 1964, in Pho Khanh commune, Duc Pho town, Quang Ngai province. He holds a PhD in Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Affairs.
He is a member of the 13th Politburo, member of the 12th and 13th Party Central Committee, and a delegate of the 14th and 15th National Assembly.
Prior to the decision by the Politburo to assign him as the Head of the Central Economic Committee from February 2021 until now, Mr. Tran Tuan Anh served as the Minister of Industry and Trade.
He has held various positions including Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Deputy Head of the Central Economic Committee, and Deputy Chairman of the People’s Committee of Can Tho city.
