According to Mr. Tran Dinh Minh, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dong Nai province, up to now, Long Thanh district has completed the preparation of the investment proposal for the Water Drainage Project at Long Thanh Airport (phase 1) with a total budget of over 1,200 billion VND. When operational, the project will serve as a water drainage system for 5 reservoirs built in the airport area to prevent flooding and meet the water drainage needs for an area of about 4,000 hectares.

During the implementation of the project, the units will dredge, reinforce and consolidate about 20 kilometers of the Bung Mon and Da Vang streams. They will also build pipelines from the reservoirs in Long Thanh Airport to these two streams. At the same time, they will construct 5 bridges and nearly 17 kilometers of rural roads along both sides of the streams.

Phase 1 of the Water Drainage Project for Long Thanh Airport is in accordance with the local planning and has been included in the land use plan of Long Thanh district. The project has been considered urgent, but so far the functional departments of Dong Nai province have not determined the funding source for implementation.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Nguyen, Director of the Department of Planning and Investment of Dong Nai province, said that Phase 1 of the Water Drainage Project for Long Thanh Airport requires a large amount of capital. However, it is very difficult to allocate funds from the medium-term public investment plan for the 2021-2025 period of the province. Recognizing the need for early implementation of this project, recently, Dong Nai province assigned the Department of Planning and Investment to contact the Ministry of Planning and Investment for advice on the provincial capital plan for implementing the project.
