During the days leading up to Tet, reporters from Tien Phong observed a busy working atmosphere at many motorbike and car wash shops in Bac Giang city. Due to the high demand for motorbike and car wash services during Tet, many shops had to hire additional staff to serve customers. On the 28th and 29th of Tet, many motorbike and car wash shop owners pocketed millions of VND per day.
On the morning of the 29th of Tet, Mr. Dang Trung Tinh (53 years old) on Hung Vuong street, Bac Giang city, was busy washing motorbikes. Mr. Tinh quickly sprayed water onto the motorbikes, stating that there were nearly a dozen motorbikes waiting to be “bathed” in preparation for Tet. Taking a break, Mr. Tinh said that he has been washing motorbikes for 30 years.

During the days leading up to Tet, Mr. Tinh worked tirelessly from morning till late at night due to the large number of customers. From the 28th of Tet, people rushed to wash their motorbikes in preparation for Tet, so he started working from 6 am. The high number of motorbikes to be washed only allowed him a few minutes of rest for lunch, then he continued working until 8 – 9 pm.
“On the 28th and 29th of Tet, I washed more than 50 motorbikes per day. The number of motorbikes I washed in the days leading up to Tet was 10 times higher than usual. With a price of 20,000 VND per motorbike, I earned about 1 million VND per day. We rely on these Tet days to earn such a large amount of money,” Mr. Tinh shared.

Similarly, Mr. Nguyen Minh Tri (55 years old) on Ho Cong Du street, Bac Giang city, also had a busy schedule working as a car wash service provider. Mr. Tri said that the period from the 27th to the 30th of Tet is the busiest time of the year. Throughout the year, he relies on the days leading up to Tet to earn additional income. On the 28th and 29th of Tet, he washed about 20 cars per day.
“With a price of 80,000 VND per car, during the days leading up to Tet, I can earn over 1 million VND per day. Due to the high number of customers, I had to ask my three grandchildren to come and help with the work,” Mr. Tri said.
Even though it was late in the evening on the 29th of Tet, the staff at the Tuấn Thủy car wash shop on Thanh Nien street, Le Loi ward (Bac Giang city) were still busy working. Mr. Tuan, the owner of the car wash shop, said that his shop had customers coming in to wash their cars since early in the morning of the 29th of Tet. Until 8 pm on the 29th of Tet, there were still a few cars waiting to be washed at his shop in preparation for Tet. From the 27th of Tet, his car wash shop has been full of customers, and his staff has been working all day.

Mr. Tuan calculated that during the days leading up to Tet, his shop washed more than 30 cars per day. Compared to regular days, the number of cars that come to be washed at his shop increased by 3 to 4 times, requiring him to hire additional staff for the days leading up to Tet.
“On the 30th of Tet last year, my shop worked from early in the morning till evening. This year, the number of cars that came to be washed in the days leading up to Tet is equivalent to last year. On the 29th of Tet alone, my shop earned about 2 million VND,” Mr. Tuan said.
