Chairman of BIDV – Phan Duc Tu

Mr. Phan Duc Tu – Chairman of BIDV

Mr. Phan Duc Tu was born on December 22, 1964 (Year of the Dragon) in Quynh Thien Commune, Quynh Luu District, Nghe An Province. He holds a master’s degree in business, as well as bachelor’s degrees in Law and Banking Academy. Mr. Phan Duc Tu joined BIDV in 1987 as Deputy Director, then promoted to Director of BIDV Quang Ngai Branch and Director of BIDV’s Organization and Personnel Department.

In addition, he also holds the positions of Deputy Chairman of the Joint Venture Bank Lao-Viet, and is a member of the Board of Directors of IDDC Investment and Development Co., Ltd. He is also a member of the Board of Directors and CEO of the International Development Investment Corporation. From December 1998 to February 2005, he was elected as Director of BIDV Quang Ngai Branch.

Since March 2005, he has held the position of Director of the Organization and Personnel Department – BIDV for 2 years; concurrently served as Deputy General Director of Vietnam Investment and Development Bank from June 2007 to April 30, 2012. Since May 1, 2012, Mr. Phan Duc Tu has assumed the position of a member of the Board of Directors and CEO of the Vietnam Investment and Development Bank.

On November 15, 2018, he was officially appointed as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Investment and Development Bank. Immediately after taking on the highest leadership position in BIDV, he was also appointed by the SBV as the representative of the state capital of 40% at BIDV. In the term 2015 – 2020, he was approved to hold the position of Secretary of the BIDV Party Committee.

Right after taking office, the first powerful signature Mr. Phan Duc Tu signed was the resolution of the first shareholders’ meeting approving the plan to sell shares to KEB Hana Bank (Korea). Thanks to this signature, BIDV’s share capital increased from over 34,187 billion VND to over 40,220 billion VND. Since taking the lead, Chairman Phan Duc Tu has helped BIDV achieve many positive changes, reflected in a series of impressive figures.

By the end of 2023, BIDV’s total assets exceed 2.3 million billion VND, leading the banking sector and surpassing industry giants such as VietinBank (2,033 billion VND), Agribank (2 million billion VND), and Vietcombank (1,839 billion VND).

In 2023, BIDV’s customer loans increased by 16.8%, much higher than the overall banking sector’s growth rate (13.71%), reaching a record level in the bank’s history of 1,778 billion VND. Customer deposits also increased by 15.7%, reaching over 1,704 billion VND.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuy was born in 1976 (Year of the Dragon) in Ninh Binh and graduated from Colorado State University (USA).

Known as the most outstanding son of the founder of Xuan Thanh Group – Nguyen Xuan Thanh, Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuy is a reputable businessman in the market.

Before joining the banking industry as Deputy Chairman LienVietPostBank in May 2021, Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuy had led many companies operating in various fields, from finance, securities to sports, cement, and energy…

In 2007, Mr. Thuy took over as Chairman of the Board of Directors from his father and by 2015, the company was renamed as Thaigroup as it is now. In 2011, Mr. Thuy became Chairman of Saigon Xuan Thanh Football Club and Chairman of Xuan Thanh Securities Company. In 2012 and 2013, Mr. Thuy continued to serve as Chairman of Xuan Thanh Cement Company in Ha Nam and Xuan Thanh Cement Company in Quang Nam.

In 2016, Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuy left his mark by taking over Kim Lien JSC, the owner of Kim Lien Hotel, as Chairman. In 2017 and 2018, he served as Deputy Chairman of Xuan Thien Ninh Thuan Solar Energy Company and Xuan Thien Dak Lak Solar Energy Company. In 2019, he became Chairman of Thaiholdings Corporation.

LPBank appointed Mr. Thuy to the Board of Directors of LienVietPostBank in 2021 with the desire to have additional potential customer network from the ecosystem of Xuan Thanh Group.

By the end of 2022, Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuy was elected as Chairman of the Board of Directors of LPBank.

In 2023, surpassing the challenges of the economy, LPBank achieved its business targets assigned by the General Meeting of Shareholders with credit growth rate reaching 16.83%, mobilization increased by 13.7%, profit exceeded 7,000 billion VND, bad debts reduced to 1.34% – ranking among the banks with the lowest bad debt rate in the industry.

Ms. Tran Tuan Anh was born in 1976 (Year of the Dragon) and has 25 years of experience in the financial and banking sector, holding various positions from management to operation and administration at credit institutions.

Ms. Tran Tuan Anh has a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Banking, a Master of Laws from Ho Chi Minh City Law University. She has held positions such as Deputy Manager of Real Estate Department, Head of Legal Affairs at HDBank; Assistant to the CEO cum Head of Legal Affairs, Member of the Board of Directors specialized in Deputy CEO at Bản Việt Bank (BVBank); Deputy General Director, Authorized General Director, Member of the Board of Directors cum General Director at KienlongBank.

Ms. Tran Tuan Anh left her position as CEO of Kienlongbank in October 2021 and joined VietBank as Assistant to the Chairman of the Board of Directors from July 2023.

On August 14, 2023, Ms. Tran Tuan Anh officially assumed the position of CEO of VietBank.
