More than 86,000 passengers took the Cat Linh – Ha Dong train during Tet.

The Hanoi Department of Transport has recently reported to the city about the situation of traffic safety, passenger and cargo transportation to meet the travel needs of the people during the Lunar New Year holiday.

The Hanoi Department of Transport evaluated that during the peak of the Lunar New Year holiday starting from February 7 (28th of the lunar calendar) to February 13 (4th day of the Lunar New Year), the public transportation system in Hanoi operated stably, according to plan, ensuring safety and meeting the travel needs of the people.

The Cat Linh – Ha Dong urban railway served over 86,000 passengers during the Lunar New Year holiday.

Specifically, in the field of public transportation by bus, Hanoi’s buses transported 73,382 trips, serving approximately 5 million passengers.

Regarding the urban railway, the Cat Linh – Ha Dong line performed 1,115 train trips, serving 86,357 passengers. The operation of urban railway train trips was ensured safely.

In order to meet the travel needs of passengers, during the Lunar New Year holiday, the Hanoi Department of Transport arranged and maintained 7 inspection teams to supervise the operation and coordinate with public transportation network management units as planned, ensuring safe and punctual operation. At the same time, staff was assigned to the hotline to provide timely assistance and information for passengers in need of information.

During the peak of the Lunar New Year holiday, Hanoi Metro Company Limited (Hanoi Metro) planned to operate trains throughout the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Dragon 2024 to serve the travel and entertainment needs of the people.

As of the end of 2023 (after 26 months of operation), the Cat Linh – Ha Dong urban railway has transported nearly 20 million passengers. When first operating, on weekends, the trains carried fewer than 30,000 passengers per day. Currently, this number is around 22,000 – 24,000 passengers per day on weekdays and ranges from 35,000 – 36,000 passengers per day on weekdays.
