tourism
. It is worth noting that high-class tourist accommodations from 4-5 stars in some provinces and cities have higher capacity, focusing on the 3-4 days of Lunar New Year.
The increase in the number of visitors has helped to boost tourism revenue in many localities. For example, Ho Chi Minh City estimated that it welcomed and served 1.8 million visitors during the recent holiday, an increase of 5.9% compared to the same period.
Total revenue
from tourists is estimated at 6,550 billion VND, an increase of 4% compared to the same period in 2023.
According to the report of
Hanoi Department of Tourism
, the number of people visiting the capital city reached 653,000, an increase of 21.6% compared to the same period last year. Total revenue from tourism activities is estimated at 2,350 billion VND.
Kien Giang Province welcomed more than 335,000 visitors for the Spring Festival, with domestic and international visitors reaching 281,000 and 53,500 respectively. The National Administration of Tourism of Vietnam stated that our country has been more enhanced and clearly positioned on the “world tourism map” in recent times. In 2023, the National Administration of Tourism of Vietnam was honored to receive the title of the leading tourism management agency in Asia for the 4th time.
At the global award ceremony, Vietnam was honored by the World Travel Awards as the leading heritage destination in the world. Moreover, many destinations and travel businesses in Vietnam have received other prestigious awards.
Currently, our country has 3,921 international travel companies (an increase of 34.3% compared to the same period in 2022), with a wider variety of
types of businesses
. There are about 38,000 tourist accommodation establishments across the country, with over 780,000 rooms.
In 2024, Vietnam’s tourism industry aims to welcome 17 – 18 million international visitors. Setting a high target is expected to create motivation for Vietnam’s tourism to boom and break through in the near future.
In fact, the number of 18 million is only equivalent to that in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic. Many experts believe that this is a reasonable and feasible target. Setting a low goal will make it “too safe” and may reduce the development momentum.
In the final months of 2022, thanks to the visa exemption, measures to remove difficulties in tourism, along with the general recovery of the global tourism industry, Vietnam’s tourism has achieved strong development to surpass the targets set for 2023.
