Hanoi: Almost 90% of workers return to work after Tet.

According to the compilation by the City Labor Federation levels, as of 9 am on February 15 (or the 6th day of Lunar New Year), 80.78% of businesses have reopened their factories for production with 88.67% of the total employees returning to work (the number of employees returning to work at the reopened businesses).

On February 15th, the Hanoi Labor Union reported on the labor relations, wages, bonuses, and care results for union members and workers before, during, and after the 2024 Lunar New Year – the Year of the Snake.

Accordingly, following the guidance of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Hanoi Party Committee, the Hanoi City Labor Union Executive Committee directed the capital’s labor unions to carry out key tasks during the Lunar New Year, the Year of the Snake: organizing the “Enjoying Tet – Sharing Spring” program; organizing the “Trade Union Tet Market 2024”; providing support; visiting, giving gifts, encouraging and wishing Tet to officials and workers; organizing the “Trade Union Journey – Spring 2024” program. Through these activities, the Hanoi labor unions supported and gifted over 513,000 workers and union members with a total amount of over 188 billion VND.

At the city level, activities were organized to care for over 44,000 union members and workers with a total amount of over 31 billion VND.

During the Tet holiday, 372 workers stayed in dormitories and did not return to their hometowns to celebrate Tet (in the districts of Long Bien, Hoang Mai, Gia Lam, Me Linh, etc.). The district labor unions organized visits and gift giving to these workers with a value of 1,000,000 VND per person.

According to the summary from the city labor unions, as of 9 am on February 15th, 2024 (the 6th day of the Lunar New Year), 80.78% of businesses had resumed production with 88.67% of workers returning to work (the number of workers returning to work at the reopened businesses). The remaining businesses are expected to resume operations on Monday, February 19th, 2024 (the 10th day of the Lunar New Year).

Before, during, and after the Lunar New Year, the labor relations situation in the capital city remained stable, with no strikes or collective work stoppages occurring.
