The MPV is a highly competitive segment in the Southeast Asia region. Therefore, MPV models are frequently updated, including the top-selling model, the Mitsubishi Xpander.
However, the Honda BR-V has almost no improvements or new additions since the second generation was introduced in 2021. Only at the 2024 Indonesian International Motor Show (IIMS), Honda introduced the BR-V N7X Edition with relatively minor changes.
The Honda BR-V N7X Edition is sold in Indonesia with 3 versions: E CVT, Prestige CVT, and Prestige Sensing CVT, with a starting price of 319.4 million IDR (equivalent to 500.8 million VND). This price is higher than the standard versions currently sold in Indonesia, including S from 289.8 million IDR, E from 304 million IDR, and E CVT from 314 million IDR. If the BR-V N7X Edition is sold in Vietnam, the price will also be higher than the current standard version, which has a starting price of 661 million VND.
Compared to the standard version, the Honda BR-V N7X Edition has been refined in terms of exterior design and interior highlights, giving a more sporty feel. The prominent features are the dark chrome grille paired with the N7X Edition emblem.
The eye-catching features include sleek headlights, power-folding mirrors with LED turn signals, door handles, 17-inch alloy wheels, side decoration strips, shark fin antenna, and a tailgate, all in black. Upon closer inspection, the silver accents under the bodykit now have added raised contours, and the taillights bear a resemblance to the fifth-generation Honda City.
Another change is that the Honda BR-V N7X Edition adds a new exterior color, Sand Khaki Pearl. According to Honda Indonesia, Sand Khaki Pearl is the best-selling color of the HR-V in this market. That’s why this color continues to appear on the BR-V N7X Edition.
Meanwhile, the interior remains mostly unchanged, except for the use of black accents complementing the silver details.
As for the rest, the Honda BR-V N7X Edition remains similar to the regular version. The car still uses a 1.5L DOHC I-VTEC engine with a maximum power of 119 horsepower and a maximum torque of 145 Nm, combined with a 6-speed MT or CVT transmission. The advanced Honda Sensing safety technology is not available in all three versions but only in the Prestige Sensing CVT, which helps minimize collisions, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist…
By the end of 2023, Honda BR-V sold 3,047 units in Vietnam, ranking 6th in the MPV segment. With this result, the Honda BR-V is still far behind the best-selling Mitsubishi Xpander in the market with sales of 19,470 units. With few changes, if the Honda BR-V N7X Edition comes to Vietnam, it is unlikely to create a big impact.
