In Nghệ An, during the 7-day Lunar New Year holiday in 2024, various tourist spots, historical sites, and cultural and spiritual centers across Nghệ An province welcomed approximately 315,000 visitors. The total tourism revenue reached an estimated 400 billion VND.
Notably, the Kim Liên Historical Site (Nam Đàn) received nearly 40,000 visitors, while the Ong Hoang Muoi Temple welcomed over 33,000 visitors. Other tourist destinations, such as the Cờn Temple, Đại Tuệ Pagoda, Quang Trung Temple, and Hòn Mát Tourist Area, also attracted a significant number of visitors.
In Hà Tĩnh, during the Lunar New Year holiday in Giáp Thìn 2024, the province welcomed 188,508 visitors, an increase of over 41,000 visitors compared to the same period in 2023.
Of the total visitors, 10,500 stayed overnight, and the average occupancy rate in the province was approximately 40%. Several localities attracted a large number of tourists, including Kỳ Anh Town with nearly 68,000 visitors, Nghi Xuân District with over 46,000 visitors, and Can Lộc District with nearly 29,000 visitors.
Many tourist sites saw a high number of visitors, such as the Ngã ba Đồng Lộc Historical Site, Hương Tích Pagoda (Can Lộc District) with an average of 3,000 – 5,000 visitors per day, and Chợ Củi Temple with around 5,000 visitors per day.
In Quảng Bình, according to the report from the Quảng Bình Department of Tourism, the total number of tourists in the province from February 8 to February 14, 2024, is estimated to reach approximately 115,000, including around 3,000 international tourists, a 20% increase compared to the Lunar New Year holiday in 2023 (2,500 tourists).
Most tourist attractions, accommodation facilities, restaurants, and tourism service providers operated to serve tourists during the holiday. Adventurous tourism products also organized special tours for domestic and international tourists.
The main destinations for tourists during Lunar New Year were historical and cultural sites, as well as spiritual places like the Kim Liên Historical Site, Hoằng Phúc Pagoda, Liễu Hạnh Holy Mother Temple, Đại Giác Pagoda, and Núi Thần Đinh.
The majority of visitors were domestic tourists, mainly from Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and neighboring provinces such as Nghệ An, Hà Tĩnh, Quảng Trị, Đà Nẵng, etc. They visited attractions such as Quảng trường Hồ Chí Minh, Bảo tàng tổng hợp, Quảng trường biển Bảo Ninh, Phong Nha Cave, Thiên Đường Cave, and community-based tourism sites.
In Quảng Trị, according to the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Quảng Trị, there were estimated over 155,000 visitors during the 7-day period from February 7 to February 13, 2024, an increase of over 24% compared to the Lunar New Year holiday in 2023, with the majority being tourists.
Among them, there were over 7,300 international visitors, most of whom entered and exited through the Lao Bảo International Border Gate and La Lay International Border Gate. International tourists mainly visited sites such as Vịnh Mốc Tunnels, Hiền Lương Bridge, Quảng Trị Ancient Citadel, and Đức Mẹ La Vang Pilgrimage Center.
During this Lunar New Year, Hướng Hóa District in Quảng Trị welcomed the highest number of visitors. The dragon sculpture in Lao Bảo town attracted over 120,000 visitors for photo sessions. Moreover, Hướng Hóa District has many other attractive tourist destinations.
In Thừa Thiên Huế, according to the provincial People’s Committee of Thừa Thiên Huế, from February 7 to February 15 (from the 28th day of the twelfth lunar month to the 6th day of the first lunar month), there were around 102,000 visitors who came to visit and travel in the province.
The number of tourists increased by 20% compared to the Lunar New Year holiday in 2023, and the tourism revenue reached 160 billion VND, a 4.82% increase compared to the Lunar New Year holiday in 2023.
Prior to this, to provide opportunities for local residents and domestic tourists to visit and celebrate Lunar New Year in Thừa Thiên Huế, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center exempted entrance fees at its managed heritage sites from the first to the third day of Lunar New Year.
During that period, the heritage sites welcomed 104,682 visitors, including 12,682 international visitors and 92,447 domestic visitors.
The peak day was the third day of Lunar New Year, with 49,012 visitors (4,355 international visitors and 44,657 domestic visitors). On February 13, the heritage sites resumed ticket sales, and there were 16,764 visitors (4,117 international visitors and 12,647 domestic visitors).
According to the Department of Tourism of Thừa Thiên Huế, during the Lunar New Year holiday, most tourists highly appreciated interactive and cultural experience programs that welcomed visitors to Hue. Additionally, there were various entertainment and cultural activities to meet the demands of tourists and local communities.
