International Indonesia Motor Show 2024 Highlights Electric Car Brands, Including Wuling Cloud EV

The International Indonesia Motor Show (IIMS) 2024 is currently taking place in the archipelago and attracting some of the top automobile brands. One of them is Wuling, the cheapest electric car brand in Vietnam, which has officially introduced its electric MPV model, the Cloud EV.

Notably, the Cloud EV is not an entirely new model as it is already known as the Baojun Yunduo in the Chinese market. Baojun, a subsidiary brand of SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW), is positioned higher than Wuling.

The Cloud EV is Wuling’s third electric vehicle model introduced in Indonesia, following the Air EV and BinguoEV. However, at this time, the Cloud EV is only being displayed at IIMS 2024 and is not yet available for sale. As a result, the selling price of the Wuling Cloud EV in this market has not been revealed yet.

Dian Asmahani, Sales and Marketing Director of Wuling Indonesia, shared: “The selling price will be announced in the second quarter of this year. We have not officially started accepting deposits. If customers are interested and want to know more about the Cloud EV, they can visit the nearest dealership.”

Overall, the dimensions of the Wuling Cloud EV are 4,259 x 1,850 x 1,652 (mm) in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. It can be seen that the length of the Cloud EV is only comparable to a B-segment car, but the wheelbase is equivalent to a C-segment car.

Although positioned as an MPV, the practical design of the Cloud EV has many characteristics of a hatchback. The exterior of the car features rounded and soft details to align with its name, Yunduo, which means “clouds” in Chinese.

The rear of the car has a large rear light cluster connected by a chrome trim and a horizontal LED strip across the tailgate. The tailgate has a multi-level design with an airfoil placed just below the rear windshield.

Inside the cabin, the Wuling Cloud EV has a 5-seat configuration with two rows of seats. The seats are designed based on the inspiration from Italian water drop-shaped foam sofas, providing a comfortable and relaxing sitting experience. The second-row seats also feature an interesting function: the backrest can be reclined, a feature usually found in luxury cars. Additionally, the front seats can be folded towards the rear seats to create a small bed-like space. The car also has a panoramic sunroof.

Notable interior features include a 2-spoke bottom-flat steering wheel, a digital instrument cluster with an 8.8-inch LCD screen, a floating 15.6-inch center touch screen, 256-color ambient lighting, one-touch power windows with anti-pinch function at every position, and more.

The LingOS 2.0 operating system, along with the MediaTek MT8666 chip, provides voice control, GPS navigation, and remote control capabilities.

It is expected that the Wuling Cloud EV will use a similar powertrain to the Baojun Yunduo model currently sold in China. The car will be equipped with a powerful electric motor producing 136 horsepower, accompanied by an LFP battery pack from Liuzhou Huating New Energy Technology. The Cloud EV will have two battery capacity options: 37.9 kWh and 50.6 kWh, allowing the car to achieve operating ranges of 360 km and 460 km, respectively. The maximum speed is 150 km/h.

In the Chinese market, the Baojun Yunduo currently has a price range of 95,800 – 123,800 CNY (equivalent to 330 – 426 million VND).
