Quang Ninh Province is a land of convergence of 22 ethnic groups living together with unique cultural identities; possessing over 600 historical sites, scenic spots. Among them, there are many resources that have affirmed the brand in the region and the world.
In order to plan the exploitation of these valuable “gold mines”, for over 20 years, Quang Ninh has had major policies. The milestone for the development of Quang Ninh tourism after the renovation period must be mentioned as Resolution 08/NQ-TU dated November 30, 2001 of the Provincial Party Committee’s Standing Committee on the renovation and development of Quang Ninh tourism in the 2001-2010 period, aiming to exploit and promote the great potential of tourism, making tourism become the key economic sector of the province.
According to statistics, in the years 2022 and 2023, the total number of tourists to Quang Ninh is 27.1 million visitors, with total revenue reaching nearly 59,000 billion VND. In 2023 alone, Quang Ninh province welcomed nearly 15.5 million visitors.
Quang Ninh tourism truly brings a new face, with the birth of luxury tourism products, such as: 5-star hotel system, luxury cruise ships on Halong Bay, Sun World Halong Park, FLC Halong Resort Complex, Tuần Châu International Tourist Area, Yoko Onsen Quang Hanh mineral resort…
Along with that, important tourism infrastructure has been mainly invested from business capital and put into operation, such as: a high-speed road running from Hai Phong – Ha Long – Van Don – Mong Cai, Van Don International Airport, Tuan Chau International Passenger Port, Halong International Passenger Port, Ao Tien International Passenger Port (Van Don), Truc Lam Yen Tu Cultural Center… which have contributed to the strong development of Quang Ninh tourism. The tourism space has been expanded to 13 localities in the province, continuing to affirm Quang Ninh as a leading destination in Vietnam and the region.
At present, the province is focusing on developing 4 main product lines: sea and island tourism, spiritual tourism, border commercial tourism, community ecological tourism with many new tourism products. Mr. Cao Tuong Huy – Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee, said that in recent years the province has been determined to innovate the economic growth model from “brown” to “green”, concretizing the strategy into targets and objectives to focus on implementation. In 2023, the number of tourists to Quang Ninh increased by 33.6% compared to the same period, tourism revenue reached approximately 33,480 billion VND, up 48% compared to the same period.
According to the Project on recovery and sustainable development of Quang Ninh tourism up to 2025, orientation to 2030, in 2024, Quang Ninh tourism fully recovers, welcoming at least 17 million tourists, of which there are at least 3 million international tourists. In 2025, it welcomes about 17.5 million visitors, of which there are at least 4.5 million international tourists. In 2030, it welcomes about 25.5-26 million visitors, including at least 8.6-9 million international tourists.
