Da Nang currently has about 650 households living in 3 state-owned condominiums in Da Nang, including Lâm đặc sản Hòa Cường Condominium (Hòa Cường Bắc, Hải Châu District), Thuận Phước Condominium (Thuận Phước Ward, Hải Châu District) and Hòa Minh Condominium (Hòa Minh Ward, Liên Chiểu District)
These are all expired and severely degraded condominiums. In Thuận Phước Condominium, many pillars are cracked, walls are leaking, and every heavy rain leads to water leakage inside the apartments
The ceiling and roof system of the condominiums are leaking, causing mold and water to flow into the apartments. Many households have to install internal gutters to collect rainwater, but they are not very effective
Ms. Cao Thị Sa, Room 306 of Thuận Phước Condominium, said that despite multiple attempts to fix the issues, it is impossible to prevent water from entering the house because the ceiling and walls are too damaged, with water seeping in everywhere
“Whenever it rains, water seeps into the house through cracks and damaged spots on the ceiling and walls. We have heard that relocation is planned, but we don’t know when it will actually happen,” Ms. Sa said
According to the Department of Construction of Da Nang, these 3 condominiums are all in a deteriorated state and must be relocated, cleared, and demolished according to the law. The People’s Committee of Da Nang City has assigned the Department of Construction, the People’s Committee of Hải Châu District, the People’s Committee of Liên Chiểu District, and the Housing Management and Exploitation Center to survey the rental needs of households in order to devise relocation and clearance plans.
At the same time, the department also suggests that tenants in these 3 condominiums cooperate with the city authorities to conduct surveys on rental needs or purchase affordable houses that meet the conditions of each household in order to implement the relocation and clearance plan as approved
In order to relocate, the Department of Construction proposes to report to the People’s Committee of Da Nang City on the investment in replacement condominiums along with relocation and resettlement arrangements for households renting in the 3 condominiums
