Why are car companies racing to slash prices after Tet?

Due to weak car consumption and a large inventory of vehicles, many car manufacturers are continuing to heavily discount their prices starting from the days after Tet holiday.

On February 19, as observed by reporters, most car dealerships in Ho Chi Minh City were quite empty. Even some employees at some dealerships were not seen.

To stimulate the car buying demand of customers in the days after Tet, Honda Vietnam has just announced that it will cooperate with distributors to implement a large-scale promotion program for 2023 production models such as City, CR-V. Accordingly, customers buying these models will receive a discount of 50%-100% on registration fee, an additional cash support of 30 million VND, and a 1-year vehicle insurance. In addition, other models such as HR-V, Civic, and Accord of the new 2024 version are also offered a 50% discount on registration fee and a 1-year vehicle insurance.

Car manufacturers continue to offer deep discounts

Suzuki offers a 100% discount on registration fee, an additional 70 million VND reduction, and a 10 million VND fuel coupon for car buyers. Hyundai also supports a 100% discount on registration fee and offers a cash discount of up to 90 million VND to customers buying the company’s car models.

Meanwhile, Subaru buyers receive a cash discount of up to 250 million VND, an additional 5-year warranty, and support for 0% interest car installment purchase. Besides, customers also have the chance to win a certain amount of gold.

Similarly, Volkswagen customers receive a discount ranging from 250-400 million VND, depending on the car model (this discount amount is deducted directly from the car price). In addition, customers are also offered a discount on registration fee, 0% interest installment purchase support, and a package of accessories.

In addition, there is a considerable amount of inventory in 2023, not to mention that the 2022 production models are not yet sold out, so it is necessary to heavily discount them to push inventory.
