According to KCNA news agency, the car was handed over to top aides of Chairman Kim Jong-un, including his sister Kim Yo-jong, for the North Korean leader to “use for personal purposes”. Kim Yo-jong also expressed gratitude to Putin, saying that “this gift is clear evidence of the special personal relationship between the leaders of North Korea and Russia”.

In September 2023, Putin introduced his own Aurus Senat limousine to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un during Kim’s visit to Russia. Kim also had the opportunity to experience President Putin’s Aurus Senat car.

Kim Jong-un is known to have a collection of various luxury cars.

According to KCNA, the relationship between Russia and North Korea has had many bright spots in various fields. The West accused Pyongyang of providing artillery and missiles to Moscow for use in military campaigns in Ukraine. However, both Russia and North Korea have denied the allegations.

In another development, Russian Ambassador to North Korea, Alexander Matsegora, expressed confidence in the prospects for the development of Russia-North Korea relations in 2024. In an interview with TASS news agency on February 6, Ambassador Matsegora said that officials from both countries are discussing a joint package of documents, which is expected to be signed during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to North Korea, which could happen soon.
