According to preliminary data from the General Department of Customs, from January 1 to February 14, 2024, the total value of goods export and import of the whole country reached $82.56 billion, an increase of 17.1% compared to the same period in 2023; of which, the value of goods exports reached nearly $43.83 billion, an increase of 21.6% compared to the same period in 2023, and the value of goods imports reached $38.73 billion, an increase of 12.4%.
Therefore, from the beginning of 2024 to February 14, Vietnam had a trade surplus of $5.1 billion.
In particular, based on preliminary statistics during the Lunar New Year holiday of the Year of the Snake 2024 (from February 8th to February 14th), there were more than 1,000 Vietnamese enterprises participating in import and export activities across the country.
During this period, there were a total of nearly 10,000 import and export declarations registered at 116 Customs Sub-Departments nationwide, with a total value of $1.41 billion. Of which, the value of goods exports reached $0.73 billion and the value of goods imports reached $0.68 billion.
During the Lunar New Year holiday of the Year of the Snake 2024, the main export items of Vietnam include: the group of mobile phones and components is the group with the largest export value, reaching $282.8 million, accounting for 38.7% of the total export value during the holiday; computer, electronic products, and components reached a value of $263.6 million, accounting for 36.1%; followed by the group of machinery and equipment with $54.4 million, accounting for 7.5%…
During the recent Lunar New Year holiday, Vietnamese enterprises imported goods from 59 countries and territories, with the highest value of imported goods originating from South Korea, reaching nearly $239 million, accounting for 35.2% of the total import value during the holiday; followed by goods originating from China with $196.7 million (accounting for 29%), and Cambodia with $41.3 million (accounting for 6%).
