China: Diver drowns in aquarium, tourists mistake it for a “mannequin”

Recently, the online community in China has been buzzing about an incident in which a diver at the Hai Xiong Aquarium (Trinh Chau, China) drowned while working in the penguin tank during the Lunar New Year.

Many tourists witnessed the incident

According to the posted images, a diver fell to the bottom of the tank in the aquarium. At that time, there were about 7-8 tourists along the pathway of the aquarium who witnessed the scene. The tourists said that they initially thought the person underwater was just a mannequin.

About 10 minutes later, the diver was rescued by other staff, given first aid and rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately passed away afterwards – as confirmed by aquarium staff. The staff also mentioned that the incident is currently under investigation.
