“The Fever of “Peaches, Noodles, and Piano” is spreading across all social media platforms, being highly sought after by the young generation as the most epic Vietnamese historical film in recent years, produced by the State. However, the film has limited showtimes, only concentrated at the National Cinema Center and 2 private cinemas, without being available at all cinemas nationwide. Furthermore, movie tickets are currently sold directly at the counter because online purchases are overloaded, so audiences need to go to the cinema to queue and buy tickets.
The scarcity and difficulty in buying tickets for “Peaches, Noodles, and Piano” has made people search for easier ways to purchase movie tickets. In many ticket-buying exchange groups, there are numerous posts asking for ticket passes or ticket exchanges, which reflects the increasing demand for movie tickets from the public. Thus, many people take advantage of this opportunity to resell tickets at higher prices, in order to profit from the price difference, known as the “ticket mafia”.
The current situation causing a stir among the public is the sale of “Peaches, Noodles, and Piano” tickets at six times the original price. Specifically, the official selling price of 1 movie ticket for ”Peaches, Noodles, and Piano” is 50k/ticket on weekdays, and 60k/ticket on weekends and holidays. But this ticket reseller publicly posted ticket sales at a price of 300k/ticket, causing a stir among netizens: “If I don’t watch it today, I’ll watch it another day”, “Why charge six times the price?”, “With this price, I’d rather keep the tickets for my family, no one will buy at that price”, “I don’t know if the reseller is joking or doing real business”, … Despite the scarcity of tickets, netizens believe that no one wants to buy tickets at such a sky-high price.
In addition, many people also resell tickets to profit from the price difference, but not as heavily as mentioned above. Instead, ticket prices can vary from 20-40k/ticket due to the effort of standing in line to buy them.
The homepage of the National Cinema Center has a recommendation not to buy ticket transfers: “Currently, many viewers have been deceived when buying resold tickets for the movie ‘Peaches, Noodles, and Piano’ on various group pages. The National Cinema Center only handles cases where viewers have successfully purchased tickets and received text messages with ticket codes accompanied by deducted transactions from the bank. NGC sincerely advises!”
