After Tet Nguyen Dan, the Full Moon day in January is considered one of the most important holidays of the year. The altar for the Full Moon day is carefully prepared, including fresh flowers, betel leaves… The price of flowers after Tet has significantly decreased. The price of apricot blossoms ranges from 130,000 – 180,000 VND for 10 branches, lilies cost 140,000 VND for 10 branches, roses with lucky branches cost 10,000-12,000 VND per flower, chrysanthemums cost 5,000 VND per flower… Despite heavy rain in Hanoi, traditional markets have already welcomed customers to buy offerings for the Full Moon day.

Since today is a working day, the buying power at the markets is not too high. Some vendors are waiting for customers.

The rain has not stopped this morning, making the Full Moon market relatively gloomy for some vendors.

Meanwhile, at the stalls and pre-made food stores, the sellers are busy preparing goods. According to the vendors, the demand for ordering altars or buying individual items such as chicken, sticky rice, nem… is high during the Full Moon day of January.

The offerings are carefully packaged, with many items pre-packed in bags according to pre-orders. Choosing to order an altar for the Full Moon day, Ms. Thuy Linh, a regular customer of a food store in Kim Lien (Hanoi), said that 2 days ago, she texted to order 4 items including roasted chicken, nem, fried shrimp, salad, sticky rice for 700,000 VND. The store prepared the order in advance and took the opportunity during the lunch break, so she just needed to pick it up and quickly prepared the altar at home.

The store is busy with altar orders prepared before the Full Moon day of January. Since 10 a.m., the store has had hot dishes ready for customers to choose for their altars. A complete altar for 6 people costs about 1.2 million VND or more, depending on the customers’ choices.

Roosters for rituals cost 275,000 VND per kg and are a convenient choice for many housewives.
