In the current week, Noi Bai airport has been serving an average of 531 flights per day and nearly 94.1 thousand passengers per day, an increase of 8.8% and 19.8% respectively compared to the previous week. Specifically, the number of international passengers increased by 14.7% compared to the previous week, reaching an average of nearly 36,000 passengers per day, surpassing the peak of the 2019 Tet holiday.
To ensure a quality experience for tourists, Noi Bai International Airport and relevant units in the service chain have implemented various measures to meet the high demand, including enhancing the use of information technology in flight operations, officially applying the collaborative decision making (A-CDM) model to reduce taxiing time and increase on-time performance.
Additionally, Noi Bai Airport representatives stated that the airport operations have strengthened coordination with relevant agencies and units, limiting the number of people welcoming and seeing-off passengers, and prioritizing parking spaces for passengers.
As a long-term solution, Vietnam Airport Corporation has commenced the expansion project of Terminal 2, increasing the capacity from 10 million passengers per year to 15 million passengers per year. The project is expected to be completed by 2026.
In recent days, Noi Bai International Airport has observed high passenger traffic, especially from around 8 PM to midnight, with a large number of international passengers and people welcoming and seeing-off crowded in the public hall and check-in area, requiring a great effort from the functional forces to ensure security, order, and smooth movement for passengers.
