The Chairman of the People’s Committee of Binh Dinh province assigned the Provincial Traffic Management Project Management Board to coordinate with relevant departments, agencies, units, and localities to implement investment procedures for the project.
Project 1: Construction of runway number 2, taxiways and other facilities in the bay area. The total investment level is expected to be over 3,000 billion VND (of which the cost of land clearance is 1,008 billion VND). The project implementation period is from 2024 to 2027.
Project 2: Construction of military facilities for handover of land to expand the civil aviation area. The total investment level is expected to be over 1,200 billion VND. The project implementation period is from 2027 to 2032.
Project 3: Construction of civil aviation area, including expanding the aircraft parking area; building terminal T3; constructing airport management office; constructing off-campus parking; constructing aviation fuel area; constructing port office… The total investment level is expected to be over 3,130 billion VND. The project implementation period is from 2027 to 2032.
The Chairman of Binh Dinh province also requested relevant units to consult and propose to the Provincial People’s Committee to organize unified work with related ministries, departments, and units on the mechanism of operating the projects when they are put into operation. At the same time, propose to the central government to consider providing special investment mechanisms and investment capital support for the 3 above-mentioned projects in compliance with the current regulations.
According to the approved plan, Phu Cat Airport is an internal airport within the network of airports, a national airport; it is a shared civil and military airport.
In the period from 2021 to 2030, the airport will be upgraded to a 4C airport according to the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization and a grade I military airport. In the vision until 2050, Phu Cat airport will remain a 4C airport and grade I military airport. The capacity will be increased to 7 million passengers per year and 27,000 tons of goods per year. Aircraft type code C such as A320/A321 and equivalent aircraft will be used, and can accommodate aircraft code E when needed. CAT II landing approach method. The runway system and taxiway system will remain the same as the planning for the period 2021 – 2030. For aircraft parking, expansion will continue to accommodate 20 positions and reserves for future expansion when needed.
