After much speculation for the past few days, Ford sales consultants have started announcing the pre-order of the 2024 Transit model. There are 2 versions of the vehicle, including manual and automatic transmission, with expected prices of VND 889-899 million and VND 949 million, respectively. Estimated delivery time is June of this year.
Compared to the current version priced at VND 849 million, the expected price of the new version is higher by 50-100 million VND. Ford Transit is a direct competitor to Hyundai Solati.

Prior to this, the 2024 Transit has been spotted at the Ford factory in Hai Duong, with the logo and many areas of the exterior concealed. In the Industrial Property Gazette of December 2023, the new generation Ford Transit design was also registered for industrial property protection in Vietnam. In addition, the US automaker has also registered the headlights, grille, and underbody cladding for this model.
Similar to the Transit currently sold in Vietnam, the new generation is still a version for the Chinese market, not a global version. This version is developed and produced by the joint venture JMC – Ford. This is also the joint venture that developed the SUV model Territory.
The 2024 Transit in Vietnam is a passenger version, identified by its honeycomb grille. The LED headlights have a similar design to the Ranger and Everest. The new Transit is more urban-oriented, resembling an MPV.
In China, the vehicle has 3 wheelbase options, including short (3,000 mm), medium (3,300 mm), and long (3,750 mm), along with 2 height options (medium and high). From the images, it can be seen that the version to be sold in Vietnam has a higher roof, but the wheelbase length is not clear.
The interior design is no longer similar to a typical commercial 16-seat vehicle. The center of the dashboard features a dual 12.3-inch screen similar to Ford’s passenger car models. The vehicle also features keyless entry, voice control, heated seats, heated steering wheel, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and remote start for air conditioning.
One of the most distinctive features is the level 2.5 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) and the vehicle stability system from Bosch. The company said that the new generation Transit is reinforced with 68 points on the super hard boron steel chassis. The testing standards and corrosion standards applicable to the new Transit also exceed the general industry standards.
In China, the vehicle has 2 engine options. The 2.3L turbocharged diesel engine is the 5th generation PUMA diesel engine from Ford, with a power output of 175 horsepower and torque of 430 Nm, combined with the option of an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission or a 6-speed or 7-speed Magna manual transmission.
Meanwhile, the 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine produces 154 horsepower and 390 Nm of torque, with a 6-speed or 7-speed manual transmission. In addition, the new Transit is equipped with an RAS air suspension system, which allows the driver to adjust the vehicle’s ground clearance via the control screen.
However, this is information about the new generation Transit in China. The version for the Vietnam market may have different equipment due to the specific requirements of each market. In 2023, Ford sold 3,861 Transits in Vietnam, leading the 16-seat vehicle segment.
