The MG3, the smallest and most affordable model in the international MG lineup, has officially entered its completely new third generation. In this comeback, the urban hatchback has received significant updates in design and technology, while the powertrain has transitioned to the use of a more advanced electric hybrid system.
Starting with the design, the MG3’s used language had been teased by preview images. The exterior now looks more like its siblings MG5/MG7, with a bold front end and a sporty body with intricate lines.

As for the size, the 2024 MG3 is announced to be 4,113 mm long, 1,797 mm wide, and 1,502 mm high. This frame is slightly longer, wider, and lower than the previous generation. MG claims that the changes in the exterior frame help improve the spacious cabin space and increase the default luggage volume to 293 liters, slightly larger than the direct competitor Toyota Yaris Hybrid.
Turning to the interior, the driver’s compartment uses a dual-screen setup consisting of a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touch center screen. The system default includes GPS navigation and connectivity standards like Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. Shift knob, electronic parking brake, and control buttons appear on the center control cluster. The car has 4 USB ports scattered throughout the cabin.
In the powertrain department, the 2024 MG3 has only one option, which is the hybrid line. This configuration combines a 1.5L 4-cylinder gasoline engine with 101 horsepower/125Nm with an electric motor of 134 horsepower/250Nm, a 1.83 kWh battery, and a 3-speed automatic transmission. The total system power is 194 horsepower.
The car has 3 driving modes: Eco (economical), Standard, and Sport. The average fuel consumption is 4.4 liters/100 km, and CO2 emissions are 100 g/km. The maximum speed the car achieves is 170 km/h.
MG has not announced the price of the MG3, but the starting price of this model is expected to be around $25,500 (629.1 million VND) when it goes on sale. The car is expected to arrive in Southeast Asia from mid-2024.
